  1. first top water fish over 15inches. Now i'm hooked on top water fishing for stripers, but the place is an hour and half away!
  2. I think he's mostly looking for a boat 16ft and under, being 15 years old and a first boat, $4,000 is a LOT to spend. Not sure, might be wrong, but that's what it sounds like.
  3. I don't know about you, but I throw my flukes in weeds a LOT and a trailer hook would get in the way more then it would help.
  4. I haven't caught a fish over 4lbs 6oz in 2 months. I haven't caught a fish over 6lbs in 3 months. So you're still doing better!
  5. Haha, didn't know you ever fished there, but have seen you posting nice fish from other near by lakes. LR has been very tough this summer, but yesterday man, do I wish I had a trout swimbait with me. I saw well over 10 bass all above the 8lb range and several in the 5+ Range, a few even over 10lbs. The trout had just been stocked the same day, and the trout were in bunches of 10 or so, and these bass just were stalking them slowly , following them everywhere, and jeezus, Ic ouldn't get one to hit anything.
  6. This topic has been talked about non stop. It's quite obvious that fish is not even over 5lbs. If you're going to lie, at least catch a fish that looks close to 10lbs.
  7. I've learned something from so many people on these boards it's impossible to just name one, or 3 or 10. If you've taught me something, you know who you are, and thanks! I will mention Roadwarrior just because I bug him on a daily basis about rods, and he's been right on track with rod suggestions. I love my 844C GLX , thank you RW. Also, Fourbizz, has given me great advice on rods / reels, and cali fishing! AintTexan has given me the most in depth, descriptive, and just flat out incredible advice on fishing a jig.
  8. August has really sucked for me! My first summer bass fishing and jeezus it kicked my butt! Finally hooked a few fish this past weekend but still nothing over a few pounds . Here's a few pictures.. Last pick was a fun fighting striper that hit a top water.
  9. Wacky rigged is when the hook goes through the middle of the worm. T-Rig and Texas rig are the same thing. It's when the hook is put in the nose of the bait, then pulled out and put back in further down the bait with it being Tex posed (hook pointing out) or keeping the hook embedded in the bait.
  10. Definitely not that big. That fish is a SOLID 6 1/2 - 7 1/2lbs though. Tough to tell from pics, but that's a great fish man. When it's your PB that's all that matters, although it's always nice to have a scale to put an exact number on a PB. Congrats though.
  11. The Revo SC is also high speed 7:1. that's the reason I chose the SX over the SC.
  12. Muddy, how can you tell which are the old ones and which are the new ones. I'm going to call the 800 number and order them for delivery as there's no BPS in Northern California. What should I ask to make sure that it's the correct rods and not the older ones you speak of. The Red Revos are the Cabelas version, the Revo SC , only made in high speed 7:1
  13. It makes a HUGE difference. Fish within the guidelines of the rods. It will improve your fishing a ton. Roadwarrior has written a great article about rods. Should check it out. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546
  14. I was in this same position not to long ago. It was between a Portabote / Zodiac / or Bass Hunter or Jon boat. I didn't have a car to trailer the boat at the time, and the bass hunter is so light I didn't want to get blown around which was stupid cause i'ts just as big of a problem with the Zodiac. I got the Zodiac, and am less then pleased. I'm going to get a 12ft Jon boat. If you get a trailer you can do it by yourself.
  15. It's my 5th one. 1 STX, 2 SX, 2 SC. I love Revos. I wish I loved my Revo SX! Only used it twice, trying to get used to it. I can't just throw it and let my thumb off like my Curado, I have to keep my thumb there. reel Mech had some advice though, i'm going to try it and hopefully i'll love my Revo too! Thanks again Micro
  16. As Roadwarrior said, MBR844C! I love my GLX 844C but I use it pretty much only for jigs as I fish jigs most often. If I had a second rod, it would be a spinning rod, 7ft M Fast or Ex Fast.
  17. I think muddy was just saying that happened to him with an Extreme, but that it's the same thing they're doing with the Pro Qualifier. I was going to pick up two of these for beating the bank instead of bringing my glx when I around bank fishing. But now I'm not sure.. Are they the ones on the website now for $120 or a different model? Still the 70million modulus and fuji guides.? Just a tad confused right now.
  18. Have it your way. I was just passing along info on a great deal. I'm quite happy with my new rods. I heard the older BPS Pro Qualifiers were made with 80million modulus which I wouldn't mind one bit. Micro, which ones did you get , i'm a bit confused?
  19. They do. I bought one. Eh, need a spinning rod. I would get the 7M but now muddy scared me. >
  20. Man I wish there was a BPS near me! I'm too lazy to call and go through all that automated junk, but if someone does call and they say say $59 please do post and let us know. Thank you.
  21. I had / have the same problem. I have my Curado and can cast this thing a mile without my thumb being anywhere near the spool until it hits the water. I'm so used to being able to cast without my thumb on or near the spool, it made using my Revo SX a pain. Took me a bit of getting used to, but I've got it down a bit now but still have 100 times more backlashes then with the Curado. Thank you DavidG for the advice, I didn't know to set the brake on 0 then do the CC and then dot he brakes. Hopefully this will help!
  22. MicroMunch - Craig (Earthworm from BR) is a great guy, and the jigs are incredible.
  23. David P replied to Tin's topic in Fishing Tackle
I've only been jig fishing for around 4 months or so now, but will not fish below a 3/8oz and rarely above 1/2 oz (occasional 3/4oz). I don't like throwing anything below 3/8oz though.
  24. That worm that moves on it's own does look kinda nice! haha but then again, I might as well just use Live bait.
