Sounds like a great time! I did something similar with a buddy at work. We set a time and whoever caught the most fish won. Loser paid for lunch. We both fished out of the same canoe together.

@Koz I wouldn’t say it’s even fishing different areas. The biggest game changer is getting real-time feed back of what those fish are doing and being able to adapt your retrieve or cast to them. Knowing exactly where your bait is at all times. A lot of dudes have played the open water game before FFS. This was just the cheat code that allowed everyone to play. if you aren’t using it to cast into pockets of weeds, under cover etc. you truly aren’t using it to your full advantage.

There was a gator in the susky a few years ago.

@BucksBasser they use it at blue marsh, the river, marsh creek, marburg. Everywhere I go people have it.

@rgasr63 never get into racing then. These guys choose to do this. They could easily have a job like the rest of us.

@slonezp you went to sleep? lol im 34 and I used to musky fish 10-12 hours a day. Now I bass fish 3-6.

@gimruisi remember this very well. I was still musky fishing. I also guess the musky guys are the only ones apart enough to know the laws and regs where they fish in tournaments so they can troll. At first I thought like most. This technology is so cool! Than after seeing what it is truly capable of my mind changed to whoa wait a second this not good. If you are fishing without it in any kind of tournament professional or beer league you are more than likely just making a donation to the winner. My boat is illegal per BASS and MLF rules. I have an “unfair” advantage with it. Yet anyone can buy it it’s a production boat. Pros are dumping more than what my boat costs into electronics to be competitive.

@rgasr63 that’s the price you pay in any sport to compete.

This is why some mount 6 transducers on the boat on the sides, transom, etc so they can scan like they would using side scan.

@HawkeyeSmallie in our small creeks I agree with you. The susky I do not.

Most guys are running without electronics deals. Most want mega 360 and garmin live scopes. That would void the contract.

@gimruis yes sir. And us knuckleheads in jet boats go up there chasing them. @ChoporozI would say that’s a stretch. Those guys and gals are doing it for money. No one is going to give up in real time what they are seeing/doing. Even so fish could be firing out on bait fish and in weeds. It two different places on the lake. They aren’t fishing 1000 acre lakes. Each end can fish completely different than the other. Most people won’t even share info at the ramp as a weekend warrior

Many pros have been saying they need this to win and be competitive. Sure many people are using it and not winning. I’m sure they are catching many fish just not the right size. everyone here knows I’m against it. I am not going to start an argument about it. At some point there needs to be something done about it.

@MN Fisher I was strictly talking about PA waters. I can’t see them putting restrictions here. @gimruis even the guys ice fishing here do it for trout and walleye to take home.

Honestly other than walleye and trout in PA I do not hear of tons of people catching to eat. A lot of the people fishing for bluegills and sunfish do it for life bait for flathead fishing. From what I see and hear at the ramps is no one keeps most fish.

On a side note Marc Frazier passed me on the highway today.
