  1. Water by the bank, I would guess. I would guess the officers wanted to cover both the bank and water so a fine would be levied.
  2. Love the article @Glenn! This is the way I fish every day. Thanks for posting!
  3. He discarded his stringer on the bank. That's considered a violation of Illinois litter laws.
  4. This may be old news, but I received it today via email:
  5. If you like listening to podcasts, here’s a pretty good one on this subject: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bass-after-dark/id1716082782?i=1000645600365
  6. I use Liquid Mayhem on my soft plastics. I see lots of crawfish in my local spots, so I use the crawfish flavor to match the hatch. Not messy to apply or store in my tackle bag. My local fish are spoiled so will only react to Starbucks, so no cheap coffee scents for me.
  7. An old man answer, so it probably won’t be what you want to hear …. It sounds like you want fishing to be the priority in your life. It shouldn’t be. You’re a dad. Your kids won’t be young forever. Spend as much time as you can with them. Having people who enjoy being with you (a girlfriend and fishing buddies) leads to a much healthier life than being alone fishing. Be very careful what you ask for. Sorry for the old man viewpoint. Fishing will always be there. Kids, friends and family may not. Love them while you can.
  8. I'm a minimalist as well. I store all my tackle in Meiho boxes. One for soft plastics ... one for hard lures ... one for terminal tackle.
  9. The Texas rig with a 3 inch slim Senko is the one bait set-up I throw every time I fish. For me, it consistently catches fish. However, I don’t always use the bullet weight. At times, I have better luck weightless or with a split shot.
  10. @WRB I’ve seen them use those nets in their videos. They always use them for catch and release. They use circular nets when they plan to keep and eat the fish. For catch and release, one of the boat crew enter the water to land the fish. The fish don’t leave the water.
  11. The fish I catch are not as big as yours, and I always fish from shore … but I’ve gotten to the point where I net the fish, remove the hook (no trebles or barbs), take a photo of the fish in the net, weigh the fish with the net, and return the fish to the water while it’s in the net. No hard proof this reduces fish mortality, but I think it might.
  12. @Glenndo you use a pinch of the formula directly from the bottle, or a bit of the formula dissolved in water? Sorry for the stupid question. I'm a bank fishermen and never fished from a boat with a live well, so I don't know much about the product.
  13. Like @WRB, I would have liked to see some conversation on the use of landing nets and post catch mortality. I've gotten to the point where I always use a net to land a fish (shore fishing), remove the hook while the fish is in the net, snap a photo while it's in the net, and release the fish from the net. I'm thinking that practice may improve fish mortality, but I have no way to prove it.
  14. Outstanding!! Congrats!!
  15. For the youngsters on the forum. "Wow ... that's terrific bass!" This is exactly why I bass fish.
  16. Most of the time I fish with two. One spinning. One fly.
  17. I don’t keep items in my vehicle, but I only fish with travel rods (both spin and fly). All under 24 inches when broken down. All my tackle, including two reels, fit in a tackle box that’s 14 x 7 x 5. Makes it very easy to load up in the car for a leisurely drive where I might fish or to actually go fishing. The equipment is not throw away … custom rods, Vanford and Orvis reels. I like to fish with good equipment regardless of where I travel.
  18. I am a minimalist. Everything I need fits in a 6th Sense small bait bag.
  19. All of this to throw a jig in a brush pile.
  20. I bank fish and travel light as well. I use a landing net and weigh the fish in the net.
  21. Be very careful not to throw the baby out with the bath water. AI is not a hammer with everything being a nail. Highly successful AI is a tool used in conjunction with a human’s vocation. The pairing of a human with an AI algorithm many times show better results than an AI algorithm alone or a human alone. A good example is the use of AI in reading mammograms to not only find cancer but predict the risk a woman has to getting cancer in the future. No one is replacing the radiologist … the AI algorithm is a tool used by the radiologist to better do their job. It’s also been found the AI algorithm can identify issues in segments of the population that a radiologist may have limited experience, such as Black women. So now medical diagnosis becomes an even playing field (something medical professionals in certain portions of the world struggle with). This is work that started at MIT if you’re interested in reading more. AI work like this is game changing!
  22. I started my kids off with panfish. Short rods with triggers spin reels. Worms and bobbers. Next I would move to Trout Magnets with barbless jigs and Trout Magnet floats. Then to weightless Texas Rigged senkos and smaller Keitech Fat Swing Impacts with weighed hooks.
  23. My go-to is the 3” slim senko in all the different versions of watermelon and green pumpkin (I know … pretty boring).
  24. TLHSS replied to Bazoo's topic in Fishing Tackle
I use Liquid Mayhem on my unscented soft plastics. No mess, and no outrageous smell. I only buy unscented soft plastics due to allergies.
  25. I bank fish and want to avoid any brush and trees. I also like to fish as light as possible. So my everyday rod is 5’4” E-glass paired with a Vanford 500 reel.
