  1. Which metaniums have brass vs aluminum main gear? Don't the current 23 and 20 metaniums from japan both use brass?
  2. Do you know what the difference is between the 23 metanium and 20 metanium? It looks like they have the same line capacity based on JLS.
  3. Yeah I would like to feel a metanium in person. Maybe at a fishing show I will be able to soon. I was originally planning on getting the slx dc xt, but I feel like the metanium will be a big step up in refinement for not that much more money. Also, there’s really no need for a dc and it cost extra.
  4. Hey guys, So I was bored over the cold days and decided to take apart my tatula 100(new model 23 or 24). I followed a video and cleaned the gears and added new grease. I know it may have been a mistake to take apart a reel that was functioning perfectly fine, but I have used it for a full season and wanted to try taking apart a reel (not super experienced with it). After reassembling the reel, it is not as smooth as before I took it apart. It feels geary and just not as smooth or nice. I have tried reassembling it multiple times but it still feels the same. Does anyone have any advice or thoughts about what could have gone wrong? Thanks in advance, Bryce
  5. Are you still able to get the reel for 225? Also, have you gotten to fish the reel anymore? After watching the reel test videos, it may be worth a shot trying one. Also looking at getting a metanium so let me know if you have any thoughts.
  6. I got my expride for $240 and couldn’t be happier with it. 6’10 ml. The zodias also got redesigned with a new reel seat that I prefer. You could also look at the Fenwick elite. I held the Fenwick eagle in store and it felt really nice and balanced well.
  7. I have Jordan Lee, Kyle Welcher, Brandon Palaniuk, Gerald Swindle, and Hank Cherry
  8. Purchased this 6'10 ML expride for $240 at the richmond fishing expo over the weekend. Balances perfect with c3000 vanford. New Curado 150 m I like how they changed the drag star to metal also got this one at the richmond fishing expo for $195
  9. I just got a Vanford from digitaka to use as my main finesse spinning reel. Haven’t taken it out get but feels great in hand.
  10. Unfortunately I may have to go with a non Shimano then… I will try to find a ml to try it with. the curado 7’ m balanced it at 1/2 inch above the lock nut.
  11. Thank you. I will look into those when they are available. I went into a store today and the only zodias available was the 7’ m which balanced about an inch above the nut. The Fenwick eagle and Dobyns champion balanced right at the lock nut while the gcx 7’1 balanced 1/2 inch above lock nut. Gonna see what I see at some fishing expo type things next two weekends and go from there.
  12. 150-250 probably. Use it for mainly wacky rig, smaller fluke, drop shot, ned rig, maybe 1/8 ounce shakey head too. I do have a medium power fast too for heavier spinning stuff.
  13. I’m gonna price rods I’ve liked low to high: Daiwa aird x at $60 right now: fished this rod for 2 years and it’s been durable and good to me as manly a car to keep in my trunk. It was rhe 2 piece version and I got it for under 50 and it was good for the price sensitivity and looks wise. Berkley lightning rod at around $ 60: This is my friends rod I have fished many times 6’ something spinning it is good for the price and has lasted for him 13 fishing defy black $70: This reel for its price is sensitive and great looking in the 7’1 medium fast spinning version I have. It has an uplocking reel seat and balances perfect with a Vanford or Daiwa regal 2500. Couldn’t ask for much more at $70 and I have never heard anyone talk about it. At $130 the falcon lowrider and cashion element are great rods. I haven’t fished with them much but they are both great looking and have good lineups. Dobyns Kaden for the price is also great I’ve had mine for a year and a half and I pretty much always have it with me it’s never let me down. Sensitive and balanced well. My most expensive rod was the zodias 7’2 ml+. This rod is really light and sensitive and was good for a variety of finesse techniques
  14. Vanford c3000hg Now to find a rod for it - looking for a 610- 7’ medium light if you have suggestions let me know
  15. What reel are you pairing it with? Stradic? I had the 7’2 ml+ zodias paired to a 2500’stradic which balanced just slightly tip heavy but still good. I thought it was slightly long for what I do on the kayak but it was a great rod and did a variety of finesse techniques well. I may look into the expride too since I like 6’10 for my fishing.
  16. Although they mainly made cosmetic changes to the zodias they didn’t up the price anymore than it already was and it looks better now. May get one for my Vanford. Let me know if you do get one
  17. Unfortunately I thought that might be the case just based on feeling it. Thank you everyone for the information
  18. Hey guys, I have heard mixed things about this and wasn’t able to confirm when taking it apart. Just wondering if anyone knows for sure or could tell from this picture. Thanks, Bryce
  19. Yeah I had to get this app called image size which reduces it for my last one cropping didn’t work.
  20. Some rods I got pretty recently: Cashion element z2 frog 7’3 heavy fast Falcon Lowrider finesse jig 6’10 medium heavy mod fast
  21. I do not have that exact rod but I have used the kaden 714 for chatterbaits with mono before when I didn’t have another rod with me on the kayak(I only carry 3). It worked decently well but I think a little more moderate would have been better. I think the rod you have would be fine for maybe up to 3/8 and then you might want something more powerful for a 1/2 ounce bladed jig. Just my opinion tho it could definitely work.
  22. What I’ve done easily on my phone is just screenshot and crop to what I actually need and then it lets me add them. Nice fish to start the year!
  23. Anyone see that VT vs. UVA basketball game? It was crazy! VT student here.
  24. Oh ok I live in VA but don’t really get out too much in the winter because I fish from kayak.
  25. Hopefully that ends up happening
