  1. If y'all ain't on the water yet y'all need to be me and dad had our first 100 fish day of the year this morning. The shallow bite on crome and black back traps is on fire on San Miguel. Dad landed 64 and I landed 53 from first light till about 11 today be back on the water at 6 this afternoon for the evening bite. Most bass came in at 12 to 13 inches all total we landed enough keepers to limit out but we only keep 6 just enough to fry some for supper tonight. Bass are holding on grass lines in 2 to 5 foot of water that is within 20 yards of a creek channel that is 10 foot are deeper the grass line run's along a sand bar that is no more then 5 foot deep, where there is a current running pass the grass they are slamming the shad by the bucket loads. Hope this helps someone get on some fish, tight lines fella's.
  2. Yep, been catching a few nice ones in 2 to 5 foot of water on a 1/4 once crome and black back trap along some grass.
  3. I carry two tackle bags at all times. One bag has one box in it that holds all my soft plastic weights and hooks and holds all my soft plastic baits, that's all that bag is used for. The other bag has 4 tray's in it, one tray for cranks and traps, one tray for my underspinner hooks, frog hooks and extra treble hooks, one tray holds my spike it dye and spike it pens, and the last tray holds all my spinnerbaits and chatterbaits and trailers. The rest of the bag is packed full of swimmin shad and ribbet frogs plus line, scale, extra knife, gps, two extra mags for my pistol and a flare gun. I know the area's I fish and start with the usual suspect baits and if that doesn't get me a bite then I start to change and find the pattern. Nothing wrong with keeping it simple but when that odd day comes when your fishing a well known area and the go to baits ain't working its always a good idea to have the bags so you can change out and find what they want.
  4. No problem sir, that's what this fourm is for folks helping other folks.
  5. Yep the drag is the star looking knob behind the crank. The little turn knob next to it is for your spool speed control. And the break setting is on the left side of the reel. You could try setting all three of these to max and see what it does. Also how is the line tied on is it tight around the spool are is it kind of loose on the spool? You want the line tied tight to the very center of the spool and try to set the lil string guide so it lines up dead center with the center of the spool. That's what I do and it seems to help make the line lay down on the spool better when I respool my reels. But to be honest I think there is something wrong with that reel, I just finished trying one of mine and I turned the drag, breaks and spool speed to full off and it still picked up line, so I reset the reel tohow it was and tryed it again and it picked the line up fine. I would return it and get a replacement I think it's broke sir.
  6. I have never heard if such a problem like this so I'm not sure I can be of any use but here goes. Try setting your drag to max if it still doesn't work best bet would be to bring it back for a replacement. I have one sitting next to me right now I will turn the drag all the way down and see what it does. Stand bye.
  7. Pick the first five colors you find them in as long as they are Junbug.
  8. Got it from a old man i use to take on guided duck hunts when i was in high school, i used a Browning Belguim mag duck 12 gauge A-5 with a 32 inch full choked barrel, i had a rep of knocking down birds that guys shooting the 3 1/2 inch shells couldnt and the old man took to calling me blaster and then someone coined me A5BLASTER because when someone would ask who had shot the duck or goose that was farther away from the blind then the rest they would say A5BLASTER did. Its still my favorite gun to this day got to be a man to shoot that thing more then three times
  9. I grow up fishing the same kind of stuff, a big ribben tail worm Texas rigged is your best freind in that stuff down here. Also you said lots of lilly pads and mentioned gators, there is your something diffrent right there gators will make path's throw thick grass and the bass will stage in those lil channels and at the mouth of them. Also look along the edges of where two types of grass meet up bass will stage there as well. It's summer time throw some frogs around that thick grass even more so if you see a log in the grass. It's a shallow lake so in the mid day heat you might try that channel you said was like 8-9 feet with a crank or trap or a Texas rig. Take a few days to go perch fishing and learn where the bream and bluegills live the bass won't be far from them. Does the lake have a good size crawfish population? If so try fishing with a crawfish imitation bait on bottom along the grass and around logs and stumps. Hope this helps sir.
  10. When that .01 percent tears off your lower unit and damages your boat hull and you and whoever is in the boat with you gets hurt or killed you will learn to slow down on that flat sir. I live on a stump infested lake and grow up on water that was stump infested and also had lots of shallow mud and sand flats it only takes that .01 percent before you will learn. There are reason's why lakes have marked boat lanes. Best of luck to you sir.
  11. It's cool bro everybody makes mistakes. Yea the grendel ammo is getting to a very good price nowaday's I like the fact I can buy a box of 20 hornady factory loaded ammo for under 17 bucks with tax and still reach out and drop better groups with my grendel then my freinds and family members can with their large bore rifle's and do so far much less per round. Last year's buck 18 inch ultralight weight JP barrel sammi chamber PF loaded 100 grain NBLT 315 yards neck shot bang flop
  12. Yep love me some gold and black back with orange belly rat-l-trap 1/4 once. Scream it along a grass line and hold on tight lol.
  13. Nottin rong tiff tat ole chool Catt lol. They just seem to work every time so why fix it.
  14. They aren't that far off from each other ballisticaly speaking. In terms off down range drop and wind drift and retained bullet energy they are not that far apart and they get closer the longer the range is. But the grendel just does it in a smaller, cheaper to build and lighter weight platform with not much more recoil felt in the shoulder pocket then shooting a 223 round. Now it could be the creedmoor ammo is priced better these days then I remember I haven't taken mine out of the gun safe since I built my first 6.5 grendel. For me and what I use the rifle for it has replaced all other calibers. I use mine for deer and hogs out to 600 yards and have shot target plate out to 875. Their is a large selection of ammo avialable for the grendel with more set to hit the market. I use the wolf 100 fmj in my home defense grendel and in my hunting/target grendel's I use the Hornady black 123 eld-m factory ammo Hornady 123 sst Nosler 100 and 120 BLT TTSX 100 and 120 grain loaded by Presisionfirearms. AlexanderArms the company that developed the round and chamber loads and sells ammo and PF loads several other loads for the grendel. Federal is also introducing some rounds for the grendel as well. The only diffrence between a grendel and a standard 223/556 is the chamber, bolt and mags everything else on or in the rifle is the same as what is used on a normal ar15 chambered in 223/556. Only things that effect accuracy in a ar15 or barrel, trigger, scope and mount and the shooter all other parts are just for hunting the gun together. My JP barreled grendel's all hold 5 shot groups at a 100 yards with Hornady eld-m black ammo at are just above half a inch. Long winded but hope it helps someone.
  15. That's a good question. Lol I'm sure most would never quess why my screen name is what it is.
  16. Don't set the hook until you feel the weight of the fish are feel the fish swimming with the bait, that will keep you from missing fish and if the fish miss's the bait the bait is still there and a few twitches most times will get the second strike that will hook them. You could also try a buzz frog or a buzzbait. Hope this helps you sir.
  17. Pearl and black back, chrome and black back, barfish, red crawfish and orange crawfish, baby bass, gold and black back, gold and black back with orange belly. My go to colors for cranks and traps, hope this helps you sir.
  18. Your talking about a whole diffrent caliber and class of rifle then what he asked about. 6.5 grendel is a intermedite rifle caliber designed to get the most from the ar15- The 6.5 creedmoor is a full length rifle caliber designed for long action bolt rifles and the larger ar10 platform. I own several of each caliber and i have never seen creedmoor ammo priced close to 223 or 6.5 grendel.
  19. I have lots of experience with them give me a parts list of the upper or rifle and I can tell you if it was worth the price and probably what to change so you don't have problems with it. You can post it here are shoot me a text at 318-214-8525.
  20. Yep brand new battery, just put it in yesterday. Yea im headed to town to buy one in a lil bit, thought i had it chased down but come to findout my meter was not working correctly.
  21. I will check that in a few, but could that stop the trim from working as well. I thought the same myself but cant find anymore ground wires to check, i checked them all.
  22. Ok gents looking for some insight. My merc on the tracker is dead, now I do most if not all of the work on my motors but I'm at a loss on figuring out what's wrong with it. Nothing works, trim, starter nothing it's just dead like no power is getting to anything. I have gone throw it the last few days and changed every fuse, changed the battery double checked I put the wires back right on the battery and still nothing it's just dead. Checked all the wires and power packs and all wire connections to make sure they are good and aren't burnt and everything looks brand new even the fuses I changed looked brand new. Can the switch that the kill line hooks too be out and causing this problem? I have never ran into a problem like this before and I'm hoping it's just something very simple I'm missing. Motor is a merc 50 with three carbs 2 stroke long shaft. Any insight would be helpful gents.
  23. No use what is marked as max rpm on the motor's info plate then take that info and get ahold of a custom prop shop and tell them the size and pitch and the motor's listed max rpm, give them your top speed with the prop your useing know and the rpm's it runs at in the water and they can tell you what prop size and pitch and how much cup to use to gain speed but also lower your rpm's back down to the listed rpm range. Hope this helps sir.
