  1. Got a turtle, duck, and a coot fishing for catfish...
  2. Yes it is. It was 84lbs. 12oz. Have look at this huge carp from Thailand. (Thailand is alot warmer then California ) That looks like a siamese carp. Those are only native to Asia arnt they?
  3. Hey man how much does that fish weigh? That fish the world record carp by any chance?
  4. I honestly doubt they get that big in California. Carp are a cold water fish and the water is warm here. Not best growing conditions for carp...
  5. Yeah guys it was a very tough fight. Took about 10 minutes to land the fish. I only hooked into him about 15 feet out but I just could not get him to the shore. Every time I got him close he would shoot out to about 25 feet away from shore again. He kept swimming from side to side slowly pulling a lot of drag. He did not make any long straight runs out to the middle of the lake though. I basically just let this fish run around and get tired. Did not want to force him in and end up with a broken line. I was only using 8 LB test. He got tired after about 10 minutes and I was able to net him on my first netting attempt.
  6. Just bread or corn are best
  7. Got this huge common carp today that went 17 LBS on medium action tackle and 8 LB test... What a fight! here is another pic...
  8. When your a seinior member of bassresource.com and have been useing the site less than a year...
  9. Those last two bass are absolute HAWGS
  10. Just wondering how it is for you guys... For me I am a 100% catch and release guy. However there is a situation where I would keep a bass. That situation is if I catch a state record bass or better. That is the only time I would EVER keep any bass for a wall mount or anything else.... How is it with you guys? I know some of you guys like to keep smaller bass from overpopulated lakes for the table because it helps increase the size of the average bass in those lakes. Others like to release 90% of their catches but keep a fish for a wall mount if its a trophy. Just wondering how this works with most of you guys? Again for me I am a 100% catch and release fisherman...unless of course i get a state or world record fish...
  11. Im sure Lucky Craft will fix their bait soon. Their products are usually very good as well as durable. Im sure they will fix this flaw and re-release this bait. I have three lucky craft lures of my own and have not had any problems with them.
  12. I have not seen any fish on beds yet and dont think I will for another month. I have heard in some lakes and ponds fish start to bed around now but I have not seen it this early in my life. Anyone seen fish bedding yet?
  13. I just looked through all the lures this guy sells. They are all junk!
  14. This looks realy fun. Too bad im too poor to afford the plane ticket
  15. Only fish I ever chum for is carp. I think chummings kind of useless for bass....
  16. Got to check it out.... My local wall mart just has cheap fishing stuff. However out of the cheap stuff they have some of it is good. They carry rapala hard baits, zoom flukes, senko knock offs, gamakatsu hooks, as well as roboworms. I think il have to go and get stocked up on these lures....
  17. If you could only fish ONE lure the rest of your life what lure would it be? For me it would be a 6 inch straight tail finess worm. Yeah this bait is probably one of the more boring baits to fish but I chose it because it is the ONLY bait I have ever fished that will catch me bass at any time of year under any conditions. It is my go to bait when fishing is tough as well as my skunk buster bait. I seem to catch bass with a 6 inch strait tail finess worm EVERY time I use one. Now what would your one bait be if you could only fish one bait for bass the rest of your life. Also please dont say any type of live bait. You have to pick a lure...
  18. Hey guys at the start of this year I got into painting. I actually signed up for a beginners painting class at school. I did a couple fish related paintings that I though I would share. Yeah I am not the best artist in the world I admit that but I just wanted to share.... This first one was a speed paint done in a little over an hour... This one was a full detail fish painting that took FOREVER. Worked on it over like 4 days.... I like how it turned out the only thing that bothers me about it is you cant realy see the fish in the lower right corner . Well theres my fish artwork. Lets see some of your fish artwork now...
  19. Really? You might be surprized by all the guys that hire guides and still use live bait. I even recall some guy out in California that claims to have caught over 80 DD largemouth bass who says catchin' em on artificials is EASIER! What I said I just said from my own personal experiance with live bait. Last time I used live bait I was fishing with friends and we targetted largemouth bass on a small pond with some live feeder goldfish we bought from a pet store( yes we did get permission to do this from the pond owner). We seemed to catch a bass on EVERY cast with the goldfish. We would do everything from toss the goldfish neer structure and get bass to attack to throwing them out in the middle of the lake and waiting to get a run on our line which would come in about 2 minutes. We would even see bass in the shallow parts of the lake and toss the goldfish at them and just watch the bass inhale them. We probably caught 7-10 bass EACH with those goldfish in under two hours.... Also I often fish this private pond by myself useing artificial lures... that is the one time I have used live bait in that pond. When I fish the artificial lures the fishing is much harder. I actually have to work and figure the fish out to catch them....
  20. There are several factors that go into this. It all depends on the type of fish I am targeting, time of year, time of day, and size of my catches. Lets say I am fishing for bass and I go out for 4 hours and catch 10 fish and they are all dinks then it is not realy a good day. Now If I catch 20 dinks it probably would be a pretty good day. However If I go out for four hours and catch only three bass yet they are all over 5LBS that is a better day for me than catching 20 dinks. Also if I go out bass fishing for 4 hour and catch 5-10 fish of 14 inches + then that would be a very good day too. Usually when I fish I am not out for 4 hours though...im usually only our for about 2-3 hours at a time. I am just giving examples...
  21. Ok have you EVER caught a carp or at least hooked into a carp? I think you would have a lot more respect for them once you hook into them. These fish often get up to 20+ LBS and put up a huge fight. They do not jump like bass but nothing I have ever hooked into has taken more drag than a carp. I dont mean to sound like a jerk in this post its just I think carp are a very misunderstood fish that is very fun to catch.
  22. I dont get why some fishermen have a problem with live bait. It is NOT cheating. As long as its legal live bait and you dont fish it in a tourney its perfectly fine. Live bait is the way to go if you just want to go out and catch a bunch of nice fish quickly. Yeah you dont learn much about fishing from using live bait though...
  23. I wouldent call those bass "dinks".. Well maybe the last one. Those first three fish are decent size. That first one is over 2.5 LBS most likely. The second two are probably in the 1.5 LB range. Yeah they are not big fish but fish that size sure are fun to catch...
  24. They look good sized...what did they weigh?
  25. That trout is a HAWG
