what are the best brands of mono i currently use seagur its okay but im looking for better

Berkley Trilene XL, XT, and Big Game, just decide what you want it for, and one of these will do it well.

I suggest trying the Trilene XL armor coated

note: this line is smoother than XT and Big Game without the memory, yet is just as strong and resistant.

It is a little thicker than XL so get a size smaller than you normally would.

Never have tried the Sunline Super Natural but have heard lots of good things about it. I really like Suffix Elite and have been trying the new Spider Wire Ultracast Ultramono and have been impressed with it so far the couple outings I have had with it so far.

Not a review or recommendation, just an experience. For continually cast and retrieve I use mono on only one set up, I do respool often. I use my same procedure most of the time, soaking my line in hot water before putting it on my spinning reel. I use 14# and have little or no problem with suffex elite and spider wire xxx, as I needed to respool I put some Stren original (same test and line diameter), I have never seen line coil and jump off the reel like that before. I then respool with my standby trilene xl, no coil at all, line supple, been on the reel for 5 or 6 days and haven't had the need to troll it out. As far as strength and knot holding, I catch barracuda on this outfit, enough said.

Just can't justify using anything but trilene xl from now on, it's pretty cheap too.

i try to use all kinds after reading all the threads on here floro braid superlines all the pros say use this use that but i always end up going back to triline xl up here in the north it works the best for me in the places i fish the xl armor coat is too stiff just plain in expensive triline xl is my favorite

I really like suffix elite. It handles well breaks well above rated poundage and it may sound weird but I like the way it feels under my thumb when casting.

Always used Stren Org. love it, going to try Siffix Elite after hears all sorts of good things.

I am about to say screw FC/Braid and just rock all mono like I did when I was a kid, cheaper and works the same from what I can tell.

If you're talkin old school nylon mono, then Suffix Elite and Siege are both good options. I don't use either for bass fishing anymore, but I have caught many a mid teens salmonoid on some pretty light line. For bass fishing, I prefer something tougher, like P-Line CXX. Pretreating the line with KVD Line & Lure is a must.

Mustad ultra line is some great stuff if you can find it. A camping store by me sells bulk spools with several thousands yards of line on them for 10 bucks apiece and it's basically all I use with my treble hooked baits. The new P-line C21, while not a mono, fishes super easy and is very strong and only $4.99 for a 300 yd spool.

Anthony908, as you can read from the above posts everyone has their favorite mono.

All I am going to do is add to your list of lines to consider.

ANDE

ANDE is a saltwater mono that is strong and works great.

I use the 15# test on baitcasters for treble hook baits.

Bass Pro Shops mono is also a good option. Not expensive and it does a good job as far as a mono line goes.

Big Game in 15 pound.

Big Game 15# for spinner baits. It is a thick strong line and tests at about 22#. Its' average diameter is 0.397mm

Stren Original for jigs, weighted and unweighted soft plastics.

When I want a thinner line with high tensile strength and not fishing in heavy cover I go with Berkley Sensation. 14 # Sensation tests in at about 20# and its' ave diameter is 0.361mm

To give a comparison Original Stren in 14# tests out at about 18# and its ave. diameter is 0.398 mm

This chart isn't new but will give an idea of line strengths for different monos and braids.
