Got up to Headwaters Lake for two days of shiner fishing with my old grade school buddy. We had a March cold front come thru just before we got there. Water temp was 65 degrees & the wind was honking up to 30 mph gusts with sustained 20 mph. Few bites the first day but we managed to get some better fish on the second day when the sun was shining.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Got out today before we get another round of storms and cold weather. High 85 and sunny with wind out of the SW putting a nice chop on the water.

Decided to throw the spinner bait at some dark spots out in the middle. Caught three. Used a tandem with an orange kicker blade instead of my single Colorado.

Best Spinnerbait fish.

Moved down along the bank with cattails and a deep hole in front of them. Pitched a jig around that area and caught another four. Had to horse them through the reeds to get them on the bank but it worked out.

Best jig fish.

Didn’t catch anything from the boat yesterday. Water is about 44degrees still. But pond water was about 55. Hot on 4 of them about this size in a 15 minute time and a stretch of about 60 feet. Had 3 others I missed. They were up real close to the bank. You had to pause your retrieve and almost line watch then set the hook. Fun sunrise this morning before the 30 mph winds started lol.

Joe, @Lottabass caught his Iowa bass shallow too. I just looked outside and it's white on white on white here.

Yeah I believe he’s further south than me by a good ways. His lakes are a decent bit warmer than ours.

Yeah we are back to chilly and windy with no sun for the next week

Or so. We just can’t get a good stretch of stable weather yet

I finally got out today on my local river, I got nuttin.

I must say lottabass lives up to his name 😃

The typical spring weather of changing and blowing winds has kept my city water blown out, but my indiana casino water was in good shape Saturday morning. I ended up with 7 total, all bites came from about 8:30-10:30am, best 5 were in the 18lb range with the 3 I weighed at 3.9, 4.2, and 4.33. I caught one little guy on a 1/4oz underspin and all the rest on a 3/16-1/4oz 2.5" tube. The water was still in the high 30's.

Took the boys out Saturday and caught a bunch of nice fish, just no bigs like I was hoping. It was really a weird day in retrospect. Very warm and calm with water temps in the high 50's to to 60. The kind of day I would have expected them to be flooding the bank, but the only very productive technique for me was to find them offshore, chasing shad. They were very cooperative when I'd find one or two of them roaming, probably 75% of the fish I was casting at were biting. I even got Lake to get his first fish off Livescope.

Unfortunately like all the other times I've tried to fish this spring save for monday 2 weeks, it has been FAR too windy. Kept getting blown into trees and snags, ans general frustration with the non stop wind got to me today and Unfortunately I lost my cool in a moment of weakness and snapped my ultralight rod over my knee.

I just want to be able to fish, even if I don't catch anything, but as it is now if this wind doesn't let up, it looks like all I will get to do is work.

0 catches today fwiw

Thanks! It feels good to get a heavy surface strike again. Spring break means my fish sites return to their nature as 'state park camp sites'. Whatever that is. So access has been a little limited to my favorite spots. Also laid up with an RA flare last week so didn't feel like doing a lot

Felt good today so I went back out. Couple chunky dinks. The real magic was handing off a minimax to a teenager who was there camping with his dad, they'd been there for hours without a bite. I got to watch them pull in a 4lber on it. Gotta feel good about that one

I hooked into something huge again. Acted like a catfish, no shakes jumps or thumps. Just running and then some circles. If it was a bass, would have been a pb. I handle that better than I used to

for my own peace of mind i choose to believe it was a flathead, much like the one that's been dead on the bank for a couple months. If it were a bass, I would assume it to be a DD. My PB (7-10) gave more thump and at least poked its head out of the water. The one thing that makes me think it was a bass is that it hit while I was burning a red trap. Either way I'm not gonna cry over spilled milk, just be more patient on the next one

I had an 8-10 that never jumped during the fight, she stayed down until I got her all the way to the bank. Halfway through the fight, I thought maybe I had foul hooked a big grass carp until I saw color. But even then, she still had big head shakes and made several strong runs, the fight still felt like a bass, just minus the acrobatics.

I thought I had the bass of a lifetime for that first 20 seconds of the fight the other day before I realized I had snagged a gator. Hell of a fight on a crankbait rod, but seeing it helped ease the pain since I knew it wasn't a bass.

yeah i had two that stayed down today, but even they gave me head shakes and more side-to-side action

My PB didn't fight much. No head shakes nor jumping. She was just heavy and felt like I'd hooked the bottom under the canoe. I knew I hadn't, but she had the weight to be stationary.
