Got out for a bit before Christmas Eve get together. We got down in the mid 20's the night before so I couldn't get a line in the water until after 2:00 because of ice. Caught 4 including this nice one on coppertreuse TRD. I'm finding that this cold water fishing is more predictable than many other times. Just wish the fish could fight harder. Can't have everything I guess.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

Got to go for a few hours yesterday with my oldest son. We kept 12 of the smaller ones for a fish fry Friday to celebrate my baby boys birthday. Biggest fish is 7 pounds even and next is 5 pounds even. Now we got flash flood, tornado, and severe weather watches for the next 24-48 hours. Glad we got to go yesterday!

The lake near my house is being drained. All of the fish are at the back of the dam trying to get back into the lake. I took advantage and caught a few of them. We had about a week of temps greater than 40 degrees to thaw the water so I am thankful to get a break in what would normally be a long brutal cold and barren winter.

This was the nicest one at 5.29. Caught several just under 5.

Got out again today for a few hours . Decided to take my worm boxes only. I wanted to fish the east side of the lake and tried but it was too windy. Did get a fish off a tree in the water. Got down south to some calmer water and picked up another fish. Both fish on the red shad culprit. Lost a nice fish and they

quit for an hour or so. Changed to the watermelon red / chartruese tail trick worm. Finally picked up 2 nice fish on consecutive casts. The one pictured is the smaller of the two - That pic was even blurrier than this one. Not a banner day, but better than yesterdays attempt at jerkbait fishing.20181227_173626-606x808.jpg

December fishing just keeps getting better. Caught ten this afternoon including four about this size. All came on a shortened Z-Man Hula Stikz ned rigged. Looks like we might keep cheating winter here in Indiana.

Not many places you can do this, but I went to a specific lake with the intention of trying. Pulled it off!

Today is the anniversary of my PB , caught many years ago. Decided to fish longer than normal, and fish " Old School " large plastic worms  like the jelly worm I caught the PB on. I still have a box of them from the 70s and 80s.

Before I left I cast a couple times at the nieghbors dock and got the first fish pictured. Caught it on a late 70s , early 80s vintage gold flake paddle tail worm. Caught 1 more on it later. Went to the island to get some shade and got another on a black with blue tail curly tailed worm. I stayed with various 10 inch worms, and caught another on the red shad culprit. Very slow bite, almost slick calm conditions .

Fished very slow to get them . It was starting to get dark and I de cided to fish a little of the east shoreline going home. I had rooted around and found a 5 inch alabama craw yum dinger. Nothing for a long time, then finally got this 4 pound 15 oz fish. ( last pic ) On the lean side at 23 inch. Not the PB I was huntin', but I'll take it . Happy new year everyone !!!20181231_141248-606x808.jpg20181231_160017-966x1288.jpg20181231_175310-606x808.jpg

Another above average winter day. Cold and windy but you barely notice when all the fish seem to be 16-18" chunks.

Caught these two on PB&J half Zinker ned after work. We're experiencing a remarkably gentle El Nino winter thus far and I'm milking it to the max.

Catching a few in between crappie trips. Will get a bit more serious with them once winter is over. Things look like we'll freeze up around here mid to late next week. But, it's already January, so it won't be a long wait B)

A heavy dusting of snow today, and highs only in the 20s. We'll be freezing up everything as soon as the wind stops blowing and we get a calm night. But, snuck out yesterday before everything went to hell and managed to stretch the string a few last times :)

Long range puts us back above normal so maybe this will be a redux of Dec. Posted about yesterday in Hoosier thread because I couldn't take a decent pic for here.  Still shaking my head at the action I experienced just before frontal passage.
