Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

My guess is you can add Joseph Conrad to that list. Heart of Darkness and lord Jim.

One of my favorite authors of all time. Oh, don't forget the classic for boys and experienced anglers,

Old Man and the Boy. Robert Ruark

I've been in North Carolina since Saturday. Didn't catch anything until last night our of a brother-in-law's farm pond. Couple'a dinks. Bro-in-law caught a slab of a crappie that I don't have pictures of, though.

After the pond farm I did some night fishing with @Pat Brown at his pond. We both came up empty. But we're going out on the lake in a little bit, and hopefully our fortunes will change.

Taking me back to my childhood. I read that several times. Talk about a read that'll fire up a young  imagination!!!

Ya know what Tim.....I could read that right now and be scared of my own backyard in the dark!  😬

Talk about looking over your shoulder! Just ordered it online. Our younger generation just does not understand what they are missing by refusing to read.

I just went and ordered a hard cover myself. I haven't read it in over 40 years. You're 100% correct about today's youngsters not reading. No Hollyweird movie can match the one you create in your mind while reading a good tale.

Fished 10 days in a row and found nothing better than a Ned, fished weedless on points and in cover........ that is for numbers.

Today I threw " the deal " .PXL_20250903_195104126.jpg.c4c50594ce169f5362de004d0efc996b.jpg

@Bird: 10 days in a row! I envy your stamina. I also wish I had the options of lures like a Ned and crankbaits. Even a crankbait that runs 2-3 feet catches weeds for me...on nearly every cast.

Appreciate the compliment but not much stamina involved as the wife and I are camping right on the lake with the boat in view...... just hop on and go.

@Bird: Sounds like Heaven...West Virginia.

I fished my pal's pond again this morning and landed 25. I also caught a couple pickerel, which you'll see below. Every bass was caught on the surface. I used a Rage Buzz Minnow for the first time and they loved that...a little too much as I soon lost their tails. I only had two of the Rage Buzz Minnows and they only lasted for three fish, a bass and the two pickerel. All the other fish were caught on a gold popper and a walking bait. The morning saved its best for last, so I'll lead with that, a solid bass caught on my Duo Realis Pencil walking bait, a 19-incher, caught in the middle of nothin' under a sunny sky:

The smallmouth were hitting and handsome:

The two pickerel were handsome too:

Of course, I also caught other lmb:

Here's the lmb that hit my Rage Buzz Minnow:

I had a great morning, but am really missing my pond. Soon. My pond has been fishing tough, giving up few bass, but bigger bass. The challenge draws me.

I'm at 1,122 bass for 2025. I do think I'll pass 1,500. I'm happy that the bass are finally hitting surface lures, but they also stopped hitting my underspins, so I no longer get any easy bass, that is bass caught while trolling!

Spent yesterday afternoon on the lake with @Pat Brownthe bass were killing the buzz bait. I caught two, Pat caught five, and we both missed a couple. Loads of fun and perfect weather. I'll let Pat post his own fish, but here are my two.

My guess is after fishing, you both broke out guitars and started rockin'! We all know that Pat has a trophy room full of vintage axes! Big hair may be gone but the spirit lives on!

Funny thing is, we both play but the prospect has never come up. We're too busy fishing. 😄

Awww Shucks............😞 You're kindness always makes my day!

I feel much more at home posting here than I do anywhere else, so I will indeed continue sharing catches on this forum.

Missed a couple hits from a nice size bass that probably wasnt as big as the one I caught Friday, but probably would have went 4 lbs.

Tossed in later where oddly there was a bass between a weed patch and the bank. I thought as I was making my motion to pitch in it was spooking him, instead he was back pedaling and every time id pitch he would swim right up on my bait. 4th pitch got him.

Not near as big as my catch last week but still a solid 17-3/4" fish around 2 lbs.

Im a creature of superstition, every time I wear this pink t shirt fishing, I get something decent. Also purposely wear it inside out. I don't wanna wear it right in case I ruin the good luck properties 🤪

I was able to snap this pic right before catching my 250th fish of the year - for perspective: year one I caught 34 total fish, last year 63 fish, now this year a big jump in numbers (and PB's) - I have been fortunate to get on the water 38 times this season - close to my desired number of 40 - hopefully I can now get to 50 before the open water becomes frozen solid - Thank you to everyone in the Bass Resource community for sharing your wisdom, expertise and love of the bass fishing experience

@WaskaCrank12: 34 to 63 to 250 and counting. You doubled and then quadrupled your count. What an ascension! What's worked best for you? Do you attribute your improvement more to a lure or technique? To fishing the right spot or to better casting? Do tell.

Started a new job. So that’s had me busy and a lil different hours. Working 7am-3:30pm makes it tough to find some time. Especially when school gets out at 4. But I made it out caught a few dinks. And got this lil chunk on a choppo. I won’t lie my drive and focus has lacked some lately. I think it’s just the time of the year. I fished hard and life has gotten busy I’m ready for winter lol.
