I was going to get the 5.5:1 and try to put together a proper cranking setup but decided I'd rather upgrade my Swimbait setup next year.

I got the 6.3:1 when the deal was first revealed.  I love these reels. I also have a 7.3:1 on one of my jig rods.  The 5'er was tempting even though I already have an E5 for deep cranking duty.  I talked myself out of it though:No:

So I was just wondering, how does one do that exactly  ..  ..  ? ?

Cuz I seem to be woefully bad at this

HA! It's definitely a first for me.  I want to upgrade from my Tracker 170 in the next year or two though, so when I see gear I want (but don't need) I'm trying to tell myself to stash that cash away instead. We'll see how long it lasts....

Well Done Sir - I'm definitely pulling for you.

A new rig can be one powerful motivator.

You have to tempt the Bait Monkey with an even bigger purchase  Or in Rich's case, the Boat Monkey.

Cleaning up I found a couple of TW packing lists. Which got me to thinking that I should pull up my orders on TW, only goes back to 2014, and figure out the percentage of the items I ordered that I actually used. Not sure if this is smart or not, but I have been really trying to order what I need vs what the bait monkey adds to my cart;)

Wow just did the numbers and was it ugly. Overall since 2014 I have used 38% of the baits I purchased from TW. The good news is that the most recent order that I counted for this, memorial day, 60% of those baits were used. All is not lost though, because a lot of it was stocking up on jigs, I had maybe 2 before this and craw trailers, Z man stuff and some rapala baits.

The type of fishing I have been doing of late has dictated that some of the baits wouldn't have been used yet, and well in some cases I do have a few color options to burn through. Looking at the list though, a lot of the baits that haven't been used yet are on my must try list this year.

I have been tracking the baits I use in a log, and then used this data for my BF order, so I am hoping the percentage used will continue to rise in the future. It is eye opening though if you go through this exercise. I would love to show this to my wife and explain that this is why I spend a bit of time researching stuff, but she would just take the wrong side and say I order too much lol.

I think that mine would be approximately 1%....you should feel better about yourself.

I think I've actually used all of my stuff at one time or another, but only a small portion makes it into my regular line up.

Pt1.

Bass fishermen don't buy what we need! We buy to be prepared if "this" scenario happens. 1 time in our lives we were not prepared...so we buy what we didn't have "that one time" for when it happens again.  But it never happens again. Lmbo!

Pt2

Bait monkey attack! Anyone know who made these for Dicks/Field&Stream?

I have tried most of the lures I have bought, but only "seriously" fished a small percentage of them.  This coming season I am going to keep a bit better track of things and by next fall will sell off or trade way everything that I didn't catch on.

I have all my stuff in plastic shoe boxes and got it all up on shelving, it is both impressive and embarrassing.

Impressive...only embarrassing to people who can't catch fish. ;)

Just ordered 3 dredge jigs,A pack of Rage Menace grubs and some 1/8 black round jig heads from Siebert Outdoors
