First, I hate the wind with a passion. Secondly, I have a higher sided aluminum boat that might as well be a kite on windy days. When you guys go out on a windy day do you just leave the finesse stuff in the garage or do you get in calmer coves? I fished the wind blown dam with a square bill and picked up a few but it just got to be too much. I should have tried a spinnerbait maybe. What do you guys do in those windy conditions?

Heavier weights in general for all finesse ish lures. Otherwise it's heavy spinnerbaits and swimbaits for me.

Try swimming a jig. Moving baits. Buzzbaits. Anything that'll make some noise.

Swimbait on a Jighead.

 

If none of that is working I break out the double secret weapon.

 

Fifty feet of Hemp and a Cormorant.

Tough day on the water, still really cold windy, but it gave me a chance to watch my local flock of cormorants have an absolute stellar day...God, how I hate those birds!

Moving baits. Windy days is about the only time I throw spinnerbaits anymore.

Generally Bass bite better on windy days , its just difficult to throw some baits. Ive caught some nice bass fishing the mud line on windy points using Manns Little George .

I like spinner baits or deep diving crank baits.

 

But, on one trip the wind was blowing so hard my trolling motor was lifting out of the water with each wave. Just to be silly I tied on a top water plastic rat. I caught 30 bass on that rat.

When the weather gets crazy on Erie or the Niagara River we throw booyah spinner baits and rapala dt6's and the smallmouth just hammer them. .

I live in Nebraska and wind is a constant struggle for me when I am out on the water

MMMMMMM Cormorant, tastes kinda like spotted owl. 

Rat-L-Trap, 1/2 ounce jig, finesse type plastic with a heavy weight.  Basically anything that has a low profile so the wind can't catch it when you cast.

Today was very windy where I was fishing. My 6 fish came on 3 lures. Sk 1.5 square bill - Sk 1/2oz red eye shad lipless - Shadow rap jerkbait

Reaction baits. I fish the windy bank with cranks and jerk baits. My goto when that doesn't work is a T rig anaconda swimming. I like to cross cast the wind. boat control can be tough but the wind and waves are covering up your noise. The wind is your friend.

Spinnerbaits and lipless cranks, as well as deep diving cranks. Big swimbaits too. Go bigger and heavier in wind.

Living in Kansas, I know wind. Around here, if you can't fish in the wind, you're gonna stay home a lot.

Many great suggestions so far. One of my favorite windy day lures that I haven't seen mentioned yet is a silver buddy-type blade bait. Honorable mention goes to a Kastmaster spoon.
