Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

Anything worthwhile?

The local Costco has 80 senkos in a Buzbe case for $30 in store. YMMV, it's priced higher on the app. Dark colors I'd fish.

They're also selling a Helios 9' 5wt fly rod for $850 which is 20+% off. "Friends don't let friends fish Orvis", but in all honesty, the Helios line are good fast action rods. There's better rods to spend the money on in their price point, but at 20% off, they're solid sticks IMO. You could do far worse than a Helios for $850.

Costco is predacious. If they can find fishing equipment in bulk for very little markup, they will acquire it. Often, manufacturer's will end up buying this stock back and shutting down Costco's source of this equipment. But in the meantime, Costco will sell what they've acquired for well below MAP pricing. It's a short window to find a deal, but it is worth being on the lookout for if you're a member.

It's worth noting that warranties on this equipment are sketchy at best. If you produce a receipt for warranty from Costco, most manufacturers are under no obligation to honor their warranty because Costco is not an approved dealer of their product.

Costco will give you your money back though.

I wonder if anyone has ever tried to warranty a senko?😆

Got hooked up back in the day and have a Helios 2 7wt I use for bass. Really enjoy fishing it. What are they up to now, Helios 5?

I’d be willing to bet they’ve had someone try to warranty a Senko. Far too many packs in the wild, and the wild far too full of crazies.

I haven’t kept up Orvis rods. Back in the day when they released them, it was right around the same time Sage released the One, Loomis the NRX. Everyone was going faster, and in a hurry. I didn’t expect much of the Helios, but was impressed fishing them side by side. I always preferred Jerry’s tapers on the Sage products for heavier applications. The Loomis rods were nothing short of awesome in these application as well. If I’m honest, fishing the Helios next to them didn’t really feel out of place. Not my preference for a fast/heavy rod, but no arguing it was capable of the same tasks. I’m sure Orvis still makes far more money selling dog beds, but they did well on the Helios line.
