They still have a few of the MagLight SJR rods in stock, I have a pair of them and they are maybe the best "small plastic on a jighead" rods I have used.  

 

I have a bad feeling that this is the end of the rod for the shorter IMX SJR rods and the Classic Bass line.  They have been out of stock more often then instock lately and seeing them 25% off isn't a good sign.

Have you called them to ask? TW is at the mercy of their vendors as to when things get back in stock. Trust me, they wish everything was always in stock so they could sell it to us and make money. That said, I avoid ordering back ordered items to avoid these situations

I thought this to be true as well but found out recently that it's not...at least not on everything! I was interested in a certain Dobyn's rod that they were out of stock on. They had a restock date of June 17th so on June 18th I called them and asked if they had gotten any more in and they replied that they hadn't and again, said the restock date is a date given to them by the vendor and not etched in stone. They suggested that I call Dobyn's and see when they would be shipping out their restock orders so I did just that. Come to find out after speaking with Dobyn's TW had never placed a reorder for that rod meaning the re-stock date was a completely made up farce (hard to get a re-stock date if you never placed the re-stock order to begin with). I told the lady I spoke with at Dobyn's about this and that TW suggested I call them to see when the re-stock order would be fulfilled. She said TW does this all the time, pulls re-stock dates out of a hat and posts them on their site then places the blame on the vendor for not shipping their new re-stock order after the date has passed...making the vendor appear to be the one holding up the process when in fact they've never placed one to begin with! Food for thought.

Did Dobyn's tell you if the rod was available, or what their availability was?  When I've ordered Dobyn's stuff from another vendor, they've just had the rod drop shipped direct from Dobyn's in Tx. (In very good packaging - thick cardboard, and well cushioned inside)  Weird that TW doesn't do the same.

This is very interesting.  So from a profitability standpoint, wouldn't TW prefer to drop ship as opposed to storing rods in a warehouse and shipping themselves?  Or do they get a better deal if they order in bulk from the manufacturer?

If your referring to the Academy sale,  I just order two spinning reels.  All Shimano and it looks like all other reels are 25% off.  Just find the reel on their website and it should say HOT DEAL next to it.  Some reels don't show the sale price until you put it in your cart.

How did you hear about this? I'm on their spam list and didn't get anything about it.

 

When I saw they did a 25% off all rods last week, I assumed the reels would be going on sale, but I expected it to be the normal one week sale, not a one day sale.

That reel is $79 everywhere else. If you got it for $45, that's more like 45% off.

 

It says "Shipping Not Available" for me though, like it's sold out, but their website has never worked right for me.

I have this rod and so-far-so-good. 

My local Ollie's Bargain Outlet has recently restocked some Lucky Craft baits on their shelves for $6.99.  This week everything in the store is 15% off making them right at $6.  There were some Pointers, Sammys, Gunfish, and Squarebills mixed in with some odd ball stuff.   They also had some Rapala and Luck-E Strike crankbaits for $4.99 before the discount.
