I fish alot of shallow rivers and a squarebill is a huge bait for me.  But in early spring and fall I need something that dives a little quicker and deeper.  Looking to grab something in the 4-6' range.  I have DT 4 and 6, but am looking for other suggestions as well.

4 to 6 foot range I like a Cordell Big-O.

The number one river crank for the 4' to 6' depth is the Bomber 4A and 5A. The 4A will get down to around 5' with 8lb line and around 4' with 10lb. The 5A is small but it is probably the best craw imitating crank I ever used, it deflects wildly and has a body shape that seems to really appeal to fish, especially smallmouth. Another that I've been liking besides the DT-4 and 6 is the Bagley Sunny B, the deep diver is listed as diving 6' to 7' and on 12' line I just barely tick bottom in 6' of water so if you fish it on 14lb or 15lb line you can make it run in the 4' to 5' zone and so far for me it has worked but I haven't used it long enough to be considered a go to, at least not yet but it may end up there.

I use a Rapala Fat Rap the most at that depth . 

Moonsault cb100.  Zoom sand flea.  I have a rare 2004 chocolate wobbler, but I'd bet on the sand flea to catch more fish.

Bandit 200 series are rated 4 to 8 ft depending on line size. Excellent cranks with a ton of color choices.

If it's not square bills I'm probably throwing a Bandit 200... Every where I fish has a ton of cover so the smallest line I'm using is for shallow cranks and that's 12lb... Anything else is 15lb or larger..

Thanks all.  Yes I do like the Bandit 200 for sure.  I'll pick up a few others, including the Bomber 5A.

Down here for river lm the cordell big-o is tough to beat. I also like norman middle n's they have a good subtle action , wiggle worts are also great crawdad imitations.

I like the Fat Rap 5, Koppers Livetarget Bluegill, Shad Rap #5 and #7, Bandit 100, and a few others. You can use heavier line to keep a DT6, Bomber 6A,  Excalibur Fat Free Fry, Bandit 200 and other cranks that run up to 8' deep running shallower. I really love the bomber 5a, but it needs spinning tackle, though it's doable on a Curado or other good light lure casting baitcasters, you won't get that much distance though. Use 8 pound test to keep a 5A from running past 6 feet. Don't overlook the Rapala Scatter Rap, or the Crankin' Rap 5 either.

bomber 2a and 3-4a....Spro flat sided little John, Speed traps, DT 4,6,10...I love the baby bass bomber 2a crankbait. One of my best producing.

Rapala Shallow Shad rap on 6-8lb test is a Fantastic crankbait, you can also fish the #5 or #7 in shallow water & works awesome all year round....You need some shad raps in shallow and SD versions in your box. Kind of a classic lure and when it works, it really works.

Another vote for the Bandit 200, can't beat the price, and they produce.

Thanks for recommending the Bomber 5A for smallmouth bass,might get a couple of these lures for the next time I go up North.
