Bass length or weight

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I'm new to bass fishing and after catching this fish, I was so worried about getting it back in the water that I never got a weight or length on this fish.  Although it's not a monster, I would like to get an idea of the weight or length of this fish.  If you could guess what do you think the length or weight of this fish would be?

Welcome to Bass Resource.  About 2.5 to 3 lbs looks reasonable.

When you push the fish toward the camera for a photo, the forced perspective makes the fish look bigger than it is, but you probably knew that already. Once you do that, it makes it difficult to make an accurate guess as to it's size.

17.5"

Nice Bass - and your guess has got to be better than mine.

Around 18" and 3 pounds, a very respectable fish.

Welcome, I'd say 2.5 to 3 also. Fat belly, nice looking fish. Congrats. Is that your biggest so far?

1.5 to 1.75 pounds.

Don't worry about the weight until you bring in those big ladies.

The ones who give you a heart attack when you get them to the surface and realize you have a monster on the line.

Hi..thanks.  I've caught a bigger one but didn't get a really good picture of it.  If this one is between 2.5-3 i'm guessing my personal best is around 4-5 lbs.
