Points wise, Tharp was the choice - one of the few times a Bucket A choice will give you some distance on the rest of the field.  I think the other difference maker will turn out to be Mueller in buck

If you look at the way that points are awarded in Fantasy Fishing rules, you are awarded the same number of points no matter how many other people have picked a particular angler. HOWEVER, (my pers

I did a lot of research for this event, and I'm interested in seeing if it'll pay off for me.

A. Greg Hackney: Most people know he's from Louisiana, but he actually grew up on the Arkansas River and knows Dardanelle like the back of his hand. Can you say stained, rising, river water? Greg is going to throw a squarebill or a jig and crush the competition. He has a fantastic history on not only Lake Dardanelle but on the whole river system.

B. Ish Monroe: I picked Ish mainly because of his fantastic momentum coming into this, but also because he's in the "river rat" category, should be familiar with current and tides, likes muddy and shallow water, etc.

C. Michael Iaconelli: This surprised myself. I rarely pick Ike because he's so up-and-down, but I really liked his history on Dardanelle and in Arkansas. He's consistently done well here. I think it sets up for him like the Delaware river that's so near and dear to his heart.

D. Skeet Reese: Skeet has been on my team for the last three events, not because I'm a huge fan but I believe he's too talented for the buckets he's in right now. He's done okay for me, but I didn't want to pick him for this event until I looked at his history here and on the Arkansas River. I think I crunched some numbers and found his average finish in AR was around 22nd place. He does great here.

Regret: Not picking Tommy Biffle

E. Clunn: I decided to go with someone I've never picked before and give Mr. Clunn a chance this time. He did well last time we visited here and I feel like he could have a good finish.

A:  Kvd.  One of the best with a spinnerbait and square bill.  I wanted to pick a lot of guys in this bucket, headed by Greg hackney, Ott Defoe, and Jason Christie.

B:   Ish Monroe.  A frog and a square bill are his things, but he also has great momentum coming in.  If it wasn't for one bomb this year, he would be in bucket A.  Allow picked Gerald swindle along with everybody else.

C:   Matt herren.  He is a flipping stick.  Almost picked bill lowen and Michael iaconelli.

D:  Skeet Reese.  Pretty much because he has an incredible history here.  Almost picked Stephen browning or Brock Mosley and there respective spinnerbaits.

E:  I went with an old veteran, Rick Clunn.  Once or twice a year he posts an incredible finish, and the rest he bombs.  Taking a big risk picking him, hopefully this is one of those incredible finishes.

Evers

Combs

Martens

Biffle

Myers

I need a good tournament after bombing the last couple.

A: Hackney - I couldn't fathom him not being in the top 12

B: Combs - Top 12 last time, low percentage.  If he finishes ahead of Swindle (high %), then this works out.

C: Herren - Not completely sold that this was the right choice.

D: Prince - decent finish last time, couldn't find anyone I was real comfortable with here.

E: Zaldain - One of 3 or 4 people in this bucket who usually is in A or B, better percentage than Lucas.

What a crock there's no Live today. I've been busting my hump all morning so I could take a longer lunch and watch a bit of it.

Live doesn't start until the 2nd day of competition, which would have been today if they hadn't pushed the start back.

I know, wishful thinking on my behalf.

decent day one for me. I can't talk big on day one but looks like the number crunching paid off for me.

Hackney: 36th
Monroe: 24th

Iaconelli: 41st

Reese: 7th (above Tommy Biffle just barely)
Clunn: 19th

Wow, what a shakeup in our group standings...

The leader before today was ALK402, but he suffered through a 0 from Crochet, a 100th from Chris Lane and an 85th from Browning.  ouch!!

Congrats to DBL000006 & NorCalBasserinBR who both zoomed up the standings to take the top 2 spots.  DBL started the day in 4th, over 300 points out of the lead while Norcal climbed from 9th to 2nd.  Both rode the Swindle, Reese, Lucas trifecta for a boatload of points (all 3 in the top 13).

Tomorrow should be interesting...

With changing river conditions and more rain in the forecast, this thing is far from over!

Of course I picked Crochet.Did he fall asleep in the boat?

That 0 dropped me from 5th to 12th

Been great for me so far... Only one bomb (and he still might make Sunday) with 1st, 7th 19th, 24th, and 63rd.  Up from 79% to 90%.

The last time I picked anglers it was a dismal failure. So I decided to let a monkey pick them. Things were going well then he decided he needed a raise, then failed a drug test and took 2 months off for maternity leave. All on the same day. I'd fire him but he could sue for wrongful termination. So I just made the picks myself. I got Christie, Swindle, Herren, Kennedy and Lucas. So far I got 3 in the top 15 and two in the 60's.

I'm going ton have to rethink jerk baits . Even in this muddy water the top two anglers are throwing them .

According to the standings I got 3 anglers in the top 50. Kennedy at 5th, Swindle at 17th and Lucas at 41st. I would have killed it if I had KVD in bracket A instead of Christie. Man KVD is on a roll this year. And soon will be the northern swing of the tournaments. Almost guarantee he'll be huge there too.

Ish and skeet dropped way down the standings today, Ish went from 24th to 71st and skeet down from 7th to 35th.  Picking Ish over swindle really hurt me in the standings.  Got three inside the cut, kvd in 2nd, rick clunn in 7th (that gamble is paying off) and skeet in 35th.

I had KVD and Clunn on my team as of Thursday. Swapped them out last minute for Christie and Lucas....Oops.

I have two inside the cut: Klein and Lucas. Unless they improve on their current standings, this is my worst week so far....and I thought there was no way I'd do worse than last week.
