Fresh legs and something to prove. I really wanted the Chiefs to get him for those 2 reasons. Wasn't at all surprised that the Patriots picked him up.

makes you wonder how he cleared waivers since the pats have the last shot at him.

Some NFL funnies for you guys this morning.

  • Hard to argue with facts

  • This week, no NFL figure has operated at the dizzying pace of Bill Belichick, who can't seem to stop flipping high-profile trades. Receiver Brandin Cooks, defensive end Kony Ealy and tight end Dwayne

2 reasons why. 1st is most teams knew whether they would be in the postseason or not by that time, teams that were gonna be in didn't need that skill set. 2nd is when chosen off waivers, your responsible for the contract. He cleared waivers, nobody claimed him. The pats, after he cleared waivers, brought him in and then signed him to a new contract.

His steelers contract was not cap friendly, pats are paying him something like 50k per game.

They signed him because they needed someone to set the edge on runs and rush the qb, the 2 things he's doing effectively for them. I don't think for a second he was signed for leverage against the steelers, he's been playing way too much if that's the case. He sat all season, so the pats got fresh legs on a good defensive player.

Its common in the NFL to sign players in season that know a particular teams offense/defense and then cut them after the season. Wait and see. Harrison will be cut at the end of this season. Don't think Bill Belichick doesn't think about things like this. He wouldn't be the coach he is if he didn't.

He probably won't make next year's team, he's gonna be a 40 yr old pass rusher, then again he will probably retire after he gets the ring. I'm not saying they didn't want to mine him for info, but that was a secondary reason to sign him..they really needed his skill set, that's why he's here.

Well, the SB is set, but I did not see the train wreck of the

Vikings coming. Actually, total credit to the Eagles for a

well-played game on both sides of the ball. Foles was great,

and boy did they dissemble the #1 D in the league!

Gonna be a very good SB.

  • Super User

Agreed. Gonna be a heck of a game.

  • Super User

Hard to believe Foles is the backup. Can't see him continuing to sit behind Wentz after this season. Wouldn't be surprised if a team like Denver calls the Eagles about a trade for either Wentz or Foles.

  • Super User

Wentz isn't getting traded...Foles, he might or he might want to just stay in philly as a backup.  He contemplated retiring but wanted to come to philly.

Wentz is better than Foles but Foles is no slouch, he just needs better coaching than he had once he left philly.

Oh and that Vikings #1 defense, yeah about that....

@A-Jay you got your wish as well as mine.....

now to wait two weeks and hear how we have no shot....again just like we had no shot the past two weeks too and we dismantled Atlanta and Minnesota, which ironically enough are the same two teams we beat (different order) to get to our last super bowl berth.

Gonna be a good game for sure.

  • Super User

@flyfisher Funny how that worked out . . . .

Philly looked very good - New England had to come from behind

Gonna be a long 2 weeks . . .

It would be fun for sure.  I am not even going to have a party though.  I m just gonna have a few of my family over and select friends that won't be a pain in the ass and actually like to watch football.

Hey, it is Philly after all. :D

  • Super User

I will be pulling for the Eagles but I think the Pats will prevail.

  • Super User

I think Pats will probably win, too, but hope Eagles can bring

one home to Philly.

Problem is, they've already goaded the GOAT with "pretty boy"

comments. Not good, LOL. Tom will have that on his locker

for the next 2 weeks!!

It surprises me how unpopular Tom Brady is outside of New England. I'm not a big

Patriots fan, but I am a HUGE fan of the Greatest Quarterback to ever play the game.

How can you not like, or at least highly respect, Brady as a quarterback if you are a true football fan?  The man plays the game hard, is extremely competitive, seems to always come through under pressure, and has the stats and championships to back up an argument that he could be the greatest to have ever played.

Having said that, I am tired of New England winning all the time.  It is time for some new blood.  That is the only reason I have rooted against New England lately.  I also think if Aaron Rogers had Brady's supporting cast and coach he would surpass Brady as he is the better athlete.  But things being what they are, Rogers won't come close to exceeding Brady's championship work.

Part of being next level is working with what you've got.

Yes, and you can only guess at how good some players would be with different teams but you can never know.  Still, you have to admit Green Bay is a completely different team with Rogers at the helm.

Another example:  I watched Jamaal Charles average well over 5 yards per carry in Kansas City without anything resembling a good offensive line.  I always wonder what he could have done with a different team.  Now with two bum knees and his career near the end we will never know.

Me to, but his jersey had the number 18 on it;)

Must be a typo.... A few years ago I would have thought it was 16 in white numerals on a red jersey. But after watching Brady this past Saturday, IMO a win in Super Bowl LII will cement him as the GOAT quarterback. After Philadelphia dominated Minnesota on both sides of the ball it should be a good game.
