One of the few people who can get me to go for a hike!

My niece and her new little bundle of joy(my great nephew). I'm a proud great uncle! ?

This black bear was hot-footing it across a meadow at Glacier National Park.  It was the only bear we saw while hiking there which is kind of good actually.  A few grizzly bears do make their home at GNP.  I don't want to run into one of those.

 

 

Lake all geared up to go to the St. Patrick's Day parade. First time he's ever worn overalls, he liked having all the pockets to carry his Hot Wheels in. 

This pic is from the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  To get a perspective of the size of things, in the foreground to the left of the photo are a couple of lakes and a large hut which are approximately a mile and a half from where I am sitting.  That hut is called Lakes of the Clouds Hut and provides overnight lodging for hikers who wish to hang out all night on the mountain top.  It offers minimal amenities with no hot water, no heat, no lighting, and co-ed bunkrooms but for those wanting a night off the grid with a decent bunk at the top of the White Mountains it is a sweet place to stay and an amazing spot to see how the stars really look when there is no light at all. 

 

 

Time for the Purge!  Donate and toss.

 

 

My favorite smallmouth lake in the winter... Lake George, NY; emerald queen of American lakes.

It's a great fishing resource AND one of the prettiest places around.  Back in the days when working people could afford it, my folks had a summer place there.   It's where I caught my first fish.  

 

It's not only a great smallmouth lake, but it has largemouths, lake trout, landlocked salmon and pike too, along with a huge population of yellow perch.

This is a photo of the northern half of the 32-mile-long lake, taken from the summit of Black Mt.  The southern half has LOTS of islands.

I camped on the Schroon R. this past October.  Had planned on fishing George, but was having too much fun with smallies from the kayak just a small paddle away on the river.

 

We too had a modest cottage and dock on Port Bay, off Lake Ontario.  You could fish for typical slop/weed fish in the bay, or weather permitting, chase smallies and trout out in the big lake.  I still go there from time to time.

Same here.  

This is from last May, was pike fishing on Lake Muskoka and my wife spotted a shed antler on the shoreline. I went in with the trolling motor to grab it and right below in about 18” of water was the mate to it. I guess he was laying under the blown over tree and when he got up and shook his head, one went on land and the other fell on the ice, then sank in the spring.  

Some pictures from my weekend in Holland. The water was between 0.7 and 4c, ice round the edges and the fish were a little sluggish, but we had a great time. No monsters, but some nice ones.

I saw this elk on the slope below us as we traveled the Old Fall River Road in Rocky Mountain National Park.

It is.  My wife and I spent a week up there.  It was our first time and we climbed a couple of peaks exceeding 4000 feet - Mt Pierce and Mt Eisenhower - as well as some smaller peaks.  Four thousand doesn't sound like much when compared to the Rockies but the trails go straight up at 2 to 3 thousand feet per mile starting at about 1200 feet and they are very rocky.  We really loved it.  I wanted to climb Mt Washington but my wife didn't feel she was ready yet.  We drove to its peak and took some pics.  We will be back!

Beautiful spot... I overnighted at the hut back in the late '70s.  I did some winter camping in Lincoln Woods a few years back.  I love the White Mts.
