What Braided Line do you use

Featured Replies

Recently had some 40 or 50lb (can’t quite remember) Original Power Pro that had been on about a year or two accidentally hit the motor cowling and backlashes BAD... so I just cut it off. Never had a single problem with it. So I went to buy the new power pro v2 super slick in 65lb and it was backlash after backlash unless you really kept your thumb on it and you couldn’t bomb a cast real hard or it would dig and knot up. Is this because it’s 65 lb braid vs 40 which is what I was used to?

Has anyone got any recommendations? Thinking about trying the Berkley X9 braid or going back to original 40 lb power pro.

I've had issues with Power Pro.  I like Sufix 832.  It's more expensive, but ends up costing you less if you don't have to strip off yards and yards due to backlashes and wind knots.

Original PP or 832. I prefer the former, but don’t have any real complaints with the latter.

Power Pro for sure

Sunline FX2 is the best braid I've used.

Regular PowerPro. There's probably something I'd like better, but it took me a while to settle on PP and I'm happy with it.

I use the Power Pro Super Slick ( the original)  haven't had any problems with it at all!

I like 8 carrier braids.

The ones I use most are Sunline Xplasma, Pline TCB 8 and if I need a quick fill and don't have time to

order the other two I will go with 832.

Power Pro (50 & 65) for baitcasting and Berkley Fireline Ultra 8 (10 lb) on spinning. The Ultra 8 is strong, cast great, and behaves well on spinning tackle. It also handles abrasion better than the original Fireline also.

Either 832 or power pro. Prefer 832, seems to work a little better for me. But if PP’s on sale, or 832 is sold out, I’ve got no issues filing up with PP

Do y’all have any comments on which is less to deal with as far as knotting up or digging into the spook? Would 40 lb be easier to deal with than 65 lb

50lb Power Pro for my frogging on baitcaster.

10-15lb Spiderwire Stealth for finesse on my spinning gear.

How about Windtamer?

For thicker braids, I usually use 8 strand braid, often Daiwa's J-Braid.

For 15, maybe 20lb or less, a 4 strand braid such as original power pro is generally good. They're a little more abrasion resistant, especially with thinner line. I really like Sunline's SX1 12lb for finesse fishing (the same diameter as most 15lb braid), but it's very expensive. On the flipside, it's pound for pound the most abrasion resistant braid I've ever used, even if I call it 15lb.

50 lb Smackdown. I only use braid for frogs.
