Tatula or Stradic Ci4?

Featured Replies

Looking at getting either the Daiwa Tatula spinning reel or the Stradic Ci4 this weekend to put on a setup for finesse plastics (Dropshot, Shakyhead, Neko rig, and weightless plastics). In your expertise, what is the better purchase?

Welcome. Had the same question about two months ago. Went to the store and ended walking out with a Stradic FL.

Either reel. They are both great. I see no advantage of one over the other.

The new Stradic FL looks nice too

I was torn between recently. Went to my local BPS and actually walked out with a Legalis. It was smoother and felt better than the Tat and was half the price.

Welcome aboard!

I'm a big fan of both Shimano and Daiwa. Stradics are my current reel

of choice with the CI4+ being my favorite.

However, Daiwa makes a phenomenal reel, too. I've thoroughly enjoyed

handling them in-store and wouldn't have an issue pulling the trigger on

one in the future.

Though for me, it would be one that is made for both salt and fresh, which

the Tatula is not (though any reel *can* be used in salt, just clean real

good). :)

I have the tatula 3000 CHX and absolutely love it. But both reels are nice

Yeah, either one is a nice reel and I think you'll be happy with whichever you choose.

I really like couple Stradic Ci4+'s on my finesse spinning setups.

I want to try the new Stradic FL

Either one  would be a perfect choice. To me Tatula is a little smoother and also cheaper. The tatula LT come with many model 1000, 2000 2500 and 3000C. I end up with Daiwa Tatula 1000 LT (already have ci4 2500F)

Both great reels.   I have both and lean stradic But not by much.

Is there a bass pro near you. If so wait for the trade in sale happening in March.   You can get $40 off a $200 reel.   BUT if you want a Stradic I’d go on day 1.

I also have both and they are great reels although I do tend to favor the Stradic. The Tat just feels "plasticy" to me....

I can't think of one flaw with ci4+, have yet to try any other Stradic.  The Fuego is a great reel as well, I think I prefer it over the Tatula.

I love every Stradic I have ever owned. Can’t go wrong!

Stradic FL all day long!

Didn't like the Stratic, have 2 Tatulas now, a 2500 and 3000CXH.

Have several stradics and 1 Tatula LT. Both are great reels. I prefer the stradic due to the fact its great for saltwater as well and totally agree with the plastic cheap feel of the tatula (light though!) Would recommend either.

man, you might as well have asked Ford or Chevy. LOL

I personally prefer Shimano, but will buy Daiwa when I catch them on clearance during the winter.  Shimano never goes on clearance.

^^^ This ^^^

Shimano and Daiwa are the top brands in the industry, period.  I'm a 100% Shimano guy, but you can't go wrong either way.

The Ballistic and Kage are great options too from Daiwa. All are great options

I start to like Tatula LT even more. For the past few days I caught quite a few crappies with M/XF rod (Bass rod), the ATD drag system  help a lot dealing with paper tin mouth. The drag let loose when crappie make a quick run. I don’t have to worry much about pulling the hook out of paper tin mouth. The tatula is perfect for light line technique.

To be honest, I don't think you can go wrong with either reel, they're both super light and smooth reels with great drag. I ended up getting a Ballistic LT on ebay for less than I could get either for and much less than retail for my girlfriend last year and it's a fantastic reel.

I had a Tatula and Ballistic LT and as others have said I couldn't get past the cheap plastic feel.  I have 8-9 Stradic's with most of them being Ci4+.  Have NEVER been let down with a Stradic and I have a FG that is 20 years old.

Just my 2 pennies. 2500 Ci4+ w/ my DCE 742. Light and balanced... best finessse combo I’ve owned.

The Ci4+ is kind of like how the NRX is for me, I've never had one, but I feel I must own one someday.

I have both Stradic CI4+ and the tatula Lt.

You cant go wrong with either.

If you like black, go with the tatula.

If you want it more flashy then get the stradic CI4+.

The stradic FL is another good choice. It's more solid feeling than the CI4+ or tatula LT.

I'm sure the Ballistic LT is also another nice reel, but I dont have that one.
