What’s your go to lure for bed/spring fishing first thing in the morning?

Featured Replies

Just curious what you most often lead off with first thing in the morning? Brand, color...

I typically start with topwater but during spawn, I’m wondering if swimbait or finesse is better to start with.

Depending where I’m at..,..

Always a Scum Frog or Pop R in fairly calm waters.

If not then a Magnum Speed Worm decreasing in size as the day goes on.

If I find beds first a white craw.
If matted cover then a Rage Bug with or without a skirt

Mike

Easy, prop bait.

Throw it over the bed and let it sit. Twitch-twitch SLOW.

Then I go to softbaits.

Come on...seriously...you didn't give us the brand and color :)

I agree...I go nowhere without coffee first

Zoom lizard, tequila sunrise or African Special to start with!

Senko all day long.

I might suggest Peet’s ?. @clemsondds, a 6” or 7” GYCB senko seems to work

Any kind of chop I'm throwing a buzzbait, calm water I'm throwing a Pop Max. I will give it a little bit to see if they are interested then go to the sweet beaver or baby brush hog.

Bed fishing ya talking the spawn, that would be a Magnum Rage Bug.

Spring time in the morning I will be getting in on that deepwater offshore bite with Texas Rigs or Jig-n-Craw.

I"ve only seen a handful of bed fish in my life and never caught a single one of them . Water is usually to dirty to see them .

I very rarely bed fish knowingly. A spinnerbait gets a lot of work for me in the spring, white war eagle with hammered gold double willowleafs.
