National Hurricane Center is predicted most of Lake Charles will likely be under water from the tidal surge.

Thanks for the prayers & keep our first responders in your prayers. I have friends in law enforcement, national guard, Cajun Navy, health care workers still there.

I was wondering how things looked for you down there. Prayers sent to you and yours Catt and be careful!

Like I've mentioned before I grew up outside of Houston...in Deer Park, Texas to be exact...about 45 miles from Galveston. I also lived in Mississippi and Louisiana as a child. I'm familiar with how scary these storms can be. I'm praying for everybody down that way.

The eye is over Lake Charles damage is pretty wide spread & tidal surge hasn't hit yet.

Y'all pray for Jennings American Legion Hospital in Jennings La. Just got word it's on fire & burning fast.

It's just outside the eye wall.

Correction

The hospital is safe. A downed electrical line caused sparks and smoke. Jennings Fire Department and Jennings Police Department responded. There is no fire. Patients and staff are safe. Many thanks to Jennings Fire Department and Jennings Police Department.

Being 1,000 miles inland, I can't really imagine the reality of what it's like. That doesn't mean that I can't pray for all of you, young and old alike.

BTW ..... we're in the middle of a drought. Just thought you'd like to know.   ???    jj

Having lived through Hurricane Audrey & every hurricane since I'm quite surprised the damage isn't as bad as I expected.

The flooding from the tidal surge wasn't near what was expected except for low laying areas.

Have no information on my house ?

i was thinking about you last night catt, when I saw lake Charles was in the epicenter.glad things weren't as bad as expexted. hopefully your house is ok. stay safe.

Catt were hoping that you and all your family are safe. Glad to hear the damage wasn't what was predicted. Hope your house is ok also. It sure looked like a bad storm. Hang in there, and be careful. Best of luck getting through this storm.

All we can do is wait, though the text from my insurance company I just got is less than comforting...

Don't get me wrong that damage is major but considering the severity of Laura it's about as bad as Rita was.

I did see a video of the street I live on but it was from a half a block away & the firemen wasn't a good cameraman. Never saw my house though ?

Hope everything works out.  I went through Andrew back in the day and it was not fun!

Well, looks like one of the liquor stores got hit real bad near my house, this is definitely not encouraging news

This is a still shot of my street but can't see my house. From what I saw of my neighbors houses everythind looks good. I have one oak tree that I was concerned with.

Oh well off to Bass Pro Shop ?

Remnants arrive here tonight.  Expecting 3-5" of rain, high winds and the possibility of tornadoes.

Could have been a lot worse, especially with all those beautiful trees!

Yours looks a lot like my street when Charlie came through.

I hope your house made it though ok

Don't know who counted trees but it was said after Rita 1/3 of the trees were gone & I'm quite sure another 1/3 gone.

Still trying to get someone to check on the house.

So far one son has major damage to his house.

She was back to a tropical storm by the time she got to southern AR. We have a to of limbs down and no power. That's it for us.

I live in moss bluff. Just north of lake Charles. This town used to be surrounded by trees. Now.it looks like a warzone. We had half a pine tree break and bust through the dining room. Almost every other pine tree we had fell. Luckily those fell in the road. other than the dining room and the water coming in from the hole and rain we made it out ok compared to.others. we were kinda blessed. But its definitely not good down here

Sure hope everyone is O.K. Some damage can be fixed, your life and health are far more important.

Update

Lake Charles & surrounding areas will be without electricity & water for at least 4 weeks. Some areas longer, some less.

Heading home this morning to evaluate damage to my house. Next I'll be looking temporary housing within driving distance of Lake Charles.

It's gonna be fun y'all ?

I’m glad we dodged that bullet in the Houston area, but my heart goes out to you guys in LA.

Woa!  That's not good.  Glad you're safe, but it's going to take some work (and time) to repair the damage.

? OH MAN!  Seriously?  That's terrible.  I suppose that means everything in your fridge is toast, so be sure to clean it out.  Hope there isn't any other damage.

If I were nearby, I'd offer to have you stay at my place.
