'49 Chevy that didn't run I bought for $25 with my allowance money before I had a drivers license. My older brother helped me go to the junk yards and buy a '51 Cad V8, '56 new Pontiac 4:11 rear axle ass'y, '39 La Salle transmission and put it all together over a year. Earl Shibb $25 dark maroon paint job with Mr Magoo giving the middle finger painted behind the front fender. I have a photo somewhere. Had this car to my parents dismay until I graduated high school.

  • My Dad was smart...I wanted a truck so he found me a 1971 Chevy C-20 3/4 ton 2wd. It had a 250cid straight six and "three-on-the-tree" manual transmission. That thing was sooooooo slooooooow!  But it

  • This an actual pic of my first car.  1969 Camaro I bought it at 18 yrs old, rebuilt almost everything on it. Had a built 383 stroker motor, 350turbo trans, 3.73 rear end. Car would pull 7.90

Was this a contest?

1967 Camaro Rally sport 4 spd with a 327.  Bought it from a fireman at a local airport.  My mom took me to get it.  I had no idea how to use a clutch.  Killed it a couple times quick. Then did an accidental burn out when I finally got it moving.  Great first car.  I had a buddy put deep carpet in it, which was the trend at the time.  Can't remember what happened to it.

My first car was a ‘94 Chevy S-10, 2.2l, stick shift, metallic blue and had 13” polished aluminum wheels. I threw a 10” Infinity Cappa subwoofer behind the passenger seat and a Kenwood 400 watt amp under the seat. This is probably part of the reason why my ears constantly ring! Lol

I was working at the local lumberyard and a guy came in with the truck, I just asked him if it was for sale and I got lucky and it was. My parents co-signed on the loan for it and I bought it for $3800 at 15 years old. My monthly payments were $95.05/month.

I was pimpin’ in that truck! ?

I pictured you as a Subaru kind of guy...:wink7:

No!

'56 Chevy Belair..it was a blue and white 4 door automatic.  Changed the front seat and welded the back doors shut  changed it to a stick on the floor and repainted it a '65 chevy blue.

It was a sweet ride....  and fun to work on.  Today I open the hood and I'm beat.

Now driving a '96 4 Runner with 238,000 miles in it... at least I change the oil on it..LOL

When I got my license my parents bought me a salvaged GMC longbed pickup. The front end was 1973 and the bed was 1977. Best part of all was it came with ABANDONED VEHICLE spray painted across the driver door and bed of the truck. Got razzed about it quite a bit, but it usually ran and got me where I needed to go... once I scrubbed the graffiti off I was happy as could be.

Dang. I *think* it was an '83 model year ... a sun bleached yellow Datsun

pickup. Bought for $300 off a painter. No A/C -- in Texas (!) .... Spray painted

it flat black, LOL. Sold it a year later for $500 and my Dad let me take over

the VW Rabbit.

1964 Ford Falcon 4dr 289 small  block v8. It was a sleeper. With the 4dr it looked like a grandma car. I drove it to school and some guys made fun of it. My older brother helped me put an Edelbrock manifold, Holly 4barrel carb, and dual exhaust with glasspacks. The car was fast. Too fast for a 17yr old. I made a lot of fishing trips in that car. My dad got mad at my brother for souping it up, and threatened to make me sell it. That never happened.

94 Chevy Silverado 4wd with the 350 v8. 5 speed stick.  I loved that truck but i had a strange habit of hitting things with it. Which quickly led to my next car being an 88 Honda civic, also a 5 speed.

It was back in 1980 and my parents bought me a puke green, 4 door 1975 Dodge Dart for my birthday. It was an all around terrible car. Sounds like a good deal for me getting a car for my birthday, but back then we had a Cadillac, Corvette, and a '69 Camaro SS convertible in our garages. All were off limits to me.

However, there were some positives. Back then if something broke on your car you could go out and buy a Chilton's manual, buy some parts, and fix just about everything yourself. I remember rebuilding a carburetor, replacing a thermostat, and changing my own oil and filters. When the tail pipe cracked I even learned how to weld it back together.

Those were the days!

The first with my name on the title.  Fresh out of USAF basic and tech school.

My 2nd car was a 75 Monte Carlo that was orange and we called it the pumpkin mobile. Heat didn't work and I used an ice scraper to clean the inside of the windshield of my frozen breath.

Didn't Johnny Cash have a song about that car?  Did it happen to have three headlights?  LOL

65 Chevy Biscayne. It had a 6cylinder manual shift three on the tree. That will have some people scratching their heads wondering what I'm talking about.

My Dad had a couple of trucks like that.  I remember that if you held the steering wheel the wrong way when you shifted, you'd lock up the steering column.
