Pretty excited about this one.

As my jerk bait arsenal recently experienced a bit of a down sizing,

there's a little room in the Pro-V Bass for a few of the right replacements.

This might be it.

Accordingly a modest 'sampler' selection is headed my way.

btw - Rather than the Katsuage out-barb treble hook,

seems Megabass went in another direction.

Interesting.

Released just in time to not be part of the 20% off BF sales! ?

Im excited about this one.  I’m surprised it took them this long to come out with the Jr +1.

Agreed ~

Now if we could just convince them to make a Silent deep bait,

we'd be golden !

Do you think its heavy enough to cast on a BC?  Some smaller-sized jerk baits are tough.  I know I could use a spinning setup but I prefer to use a BC if I'm able to.

  • Super User

Well, I'm sure most guys fish the full size 110 on baitcasting gear, but it is actually

intended to be fished on light line and spinning gear. I will be fishing the Jr. on #6

and spinning tackle.

I will use what works best.

Best for me means a long accurate cast, often straight into a stiff breeze, able to fish the bait effectively for long periods of time, get bites, set the hooks, and finally play & land some fatties. That said, I expect to throw this on medium spinning gear with a light braid mainline; probably an 8 lb mono or FC leader, as the mood strikes me.

It's a 3/8 oz bait with the famous weight-transfer system. I'm confident that one will be able to cast it on bait casting equipment set up for 3/8 oz baits. Lighter line and softer tips will be a plus.

Yeah, nice!  Goes right to the top of my Try-in-2021 list.

My main jerkbait/topwater BC rod can easily cast a 3/8oz popper, so I can't imagine it would have a problem with this.

Jr's are in the house.

Looking good.

Pic shows standard 110, 110 +1 and 110 +2 for size comparision.

Just enough IMO.

Can you find a $5 quality difference?

Quality may be perceptual, conditional, and a somewhat subjective attribute,

it's often understood differently by different people.

To answer your question, No.

Mostly because I'm not looking.

Then I wonder why the jr's cost $5 less than their larger siblings...

I know this may be hard to believe at first,

but Megabass rarely asks for my input during the price setting phase.

These Jr's seem like sweet baits -

For brown bass, I am excited about the new size option.

After having them in hand,  expect to have no problem attaining the casting distance I need as these are slim & dense; should be good.

And I'll keep shouting this into the wind until it's heard . . .

We need a SILENT One Ten +1 that will still cast.

Just use the same tungsten weight transfer system, but with rubber coated weights.

May get some vibration out of them but No loud rattle.

(pretty sure 6th Sense has been doing this for a while in several crankbaits)

Someone call Megabass right away !

I fished the regular Jr. size a bunch this year and don't care for it.  Seems like it attracted a lot more small fish than the regular size 110.  Think I will be passing on the Jr. +1 for 2021.

If you haven't tried the new Max LBO 110 yet I strongly suggest you do.  I put a beating on big smallies with that bait this fall.  They absolutely hammer it and it casts a mile.  GG Pro Perch is my go to color.

Those are called spy baits!! They have a big following in the clear water lakes.

I love those perch paint jobs!

It would seem there are enough anglers interested in this bait to see them sold out at most on line stores.  I’m happy I ordered three while they were available.?

Circling back on this one ~

I've been fishing these 110 +1 Jr's hard since open water a couple of weeks ago.

Love the action.

I was also very glad to see that they cast great and when using

8lb braid and an 8 lb FC leader, they do run at the advertised depth of 7 ft.

I did change out the stock #8 trebles with #6's,

so my baits 'run' a little deeper; I like that.

Been using a St Croix Avid X ML spinning rod to deliver them

and at 3/8 oz, that was no problem.

#launchcity

So while the perch pattern was where I'd expected my initial success to come from,

it was actually the Clown, that tricked this 5.80 lb beauty of a brown bass yesterday.

It was a great 'fight' and I can't help but expect more of the same

in the immediate future, if not sooner.

I'm pretty doggone excited about this!
