My son didn’t enjoy it like I did. He got himself transferred to Colorado spgs, where he is now, and loves it.

I kept volunteering for the northern-tier bases - Loring, KI Sawyer, Grand Forks, etc - where they WANTED people. Never got it approved.

  • My reasons for relocating, if I ever do, are not weather motivated. We can't mention politics here so I won't.

Retired Air Force enlisted works for me now...he spent 20 in, and has been retired for 11 now.

Originally from PA, he loved his time in Alaska and Iceland.  Kept trying to get back to either of those two but it never worked out.

Got stationed at Offutt AFB here in Nebraska...his next gig was to be Louisiana...NOPE!...he took retirement and has been here ever since.  Big Steelers and PSU fan. Great guy. Glad to have him on my team.

After living in SC for 15 years I just moved to Georgia. I think moving to a warmer state would be relocating to Hell.

Lol, and I 100% agree.

Was stationed in Fort Gordon GA for a month in August 1981 and was without doubt the hottest most humid place I've been.

I’ve often thought Georgia was the hottest place on earth. I’m 95% confident that is a fact, +\- the sweaty undercarriage coefficient of 4.3.

Spent time in south GA, Valdosta. It’s so stupidly humid hot.

Swampass sucks

Coming from growing up in north dakota and joining the military then being sent to Gulfport Miss for combat training and war games in the swampy back 40 was really a shock to my system. I felt so greasy and sticky that i kept pouring my canteen water over my head and shirt to feel better.

When we finally finished up the wargames and got to take a real shower the water was i think soft water so it felt like the soap wasnt washing off my skin and when i did step out of the shower the humidity hit so hard it felt like i did before the shower, miserable.

Ha! I kind of know that feeling. Not the military training part but the soft water. We camp in a swamp every year and the campground water won’t wash soap off of anything. The mosquitos are just waiting for your soapy rear end to exit the bath house and make the mad dash to the tent.

Sometimes stray cats start following you around if it gets bad enough
