Favorite Single Tail & Double Tail Grubs for Swim & Bladed Jigs ?

Featured Replies

What are your favorite grubs for Swim Jigs & Bladed Jigs that are not your typical too short 3.5" grubs  ? ... I find most of the readily available Zoom , Mister Twister and the like grubs to be a little too short for using on the backs of swim jigs or bladed jigs without cutting the skirts way back ... Your favorite longer grubs that are a true 4" ~ 4.5" in length  ?

I prefer a rage craw on my swim jigs.

Chompers skirted twin tail grubs.

Yamamoto and Chompers both make a good 5" Double Tail.  The Chompers scent is strong.

Single tail I use the good old Fat Albert.

Good replies - the Chompers  , Kalin and Big Bite grubs in 5" look like they would present a nice profile for a standard swim jig or chatterbait when that type of profile is needed . *You have to remember a grub has a curled up tail and is only 5" (if that) when stretched out . BPS is notorious for stating that their grubs are longer than they truely are - as a matter of fact they do not measure what they claim to be on the package (must be new math they used) ... Good choices out there with the three new suggestions provided - thanks .

Since I almost always use double tail:

rage menace is a given

zoom z-craw is a new favorite of mine

rage structure bug also works

I just picked up a pack of the new megabass curly tail worm/grub bait. Looks like it’s gonna be a great trailer.

Rage Craw is a favorite. When one flapper gets bitten off, rotate the bait 90 degrees and keep fishing.

Kalin's and Got-Cha 4" and 6" curltail.

Got-Cha also has 8", and shad body, and double tail, and shrimp tail too.

When I'm using a grub as a swim jig trailer, it's usually on a compact, finesse style swim jig. 4" GYCB single and double tail grubs get the call here, as does a 3.5" GYCB Swimming Senko.

On "normal" full size swim jig.....I know not a grub per say, but the new GYCB Kicking Zako has been FANTASTIC, and is about all I use any more.

They have 3", 4", 6" and 9" shad bodies, too. See the linked page for colors. They're selling saltwater stuff, but the bass have never minded.

Fished it vs the Fat Impact? I have both and always reach for the FA, but I'm curious about real-world experience on the differences.

The z-craws are an excellent trailer. I hate that i can't find any more in white. Down to my last one.

*The Z - Craw Jr. would appear to be the better trailer size  vs. the full size Z-Craw ?

Personally I like the larger flanges of the Z Craw as opposed to the junior. As far as length goes, you can always trim that down to your desired size.

Yup... not a fan of the keitech stuff as trailers. I like them much better as a stand alone bait

That's awesome. Thanks for the heads up!

I agree, either'll work just fine. Swim jigs, especially, can really benefit from a little longer overall length, depending on what I'm trying to emulate.
