I thought he was from Hudson, WI.

Ike weighed in 1 fish for 14 ounces.  That puts him in last place right now.  LOL

Yeah, I don't know how this happens, a HUGE name like ike and he catches one fish? Over half the field had a 5 fish limit. I mean... I know sometimes it just doesn't go your way... but... obviously we seem to have higher standards for the 'pros'....

  • So I’m not crazy?    I wonder if he’s ever been flipping some lily pads and seen throttleplate standing in the middle of the pad field?

  • Congrats to John crews, hard not to like that guy

  • Gotta see if I can get it up running on the Tablet - down in the garage today doing more pour-foam.   That's my 'work' now - retirement is a good thing.

what happened? i missed a bunch of the weigh-in

I don’t know that it was that big of a deal, he weighed on time as far as I’m away. I just caught it on the photo journal of him on bassmaster main page and I was baffled that he would be in that situation early in the day on the first tourney of the season.

Rookie Matty Wong is from Hawaii, but has been in southern California for several years now. He keeps his boat in the same storage yard as I have my travel trailer. I ran into him one day when I was there a couple years ago and chatted with him for a bit (before he ever became 'famous') as he was dropping his boat off.

I'd been following his YT videos for a year or so, but just did the math and figured out who he was a few months ago after he won the Nations championship.

He had one fish at 11 a.m. and then put three solid chunks in the boat. He's in 6th place after Day 1 of his Elite rookie debut!

Nope...runs from Lake George down by Ocala to Jacksonville

My MIL lives in Ocala...that's how I know.

The St Johns runs a lot further south than Lake George, The river becomes navigable in Sanford FL flowing north from Lake Monroe in Brevard counnty.

Just posted this morning.

Our high school team had Cody Huff on a zoom meeting during quarantine.  Got to talk with him about college fishing and fishing Table Rock.  He's an awesome guy!

check out the city below his name…….. are y’all trying to make me go crazy? Wait I’m already there. I heard zona say it’s the first time someone from Hawaii was in the top 10, then he said also probably the first time someone from Detroit lakes, MN was in the top 10.

I heard them talking to Him on the live and he mentioned he recently moved back home

His profile on Bassmaster does show Detroit Lakes, MN.  However, this is what it says elsewhere:

Where is Bob Downey from?  While Bob now lives in Hudson, Wisconsin, he was born and raised in Minnesota.

Austin Felix just got a 6 lber also, people from Minnesota are good at fishing in FLA. Must be a vegetation thing

That is what they say about northern anglers in FL. But the overblown talking point of this tournament seems to be how the SJR has no more grass ?

I don’t know what’s going on

Haha! I can see grass all over the live coverage. No more grass is what we have where I live

I love watching Bassmaster tourneys, but they should really work on the video quality.  It's pixelated much of the time ...

Typically when it’s like that, the Marshall's are with someone who doesn’t have a camera, and they’re using their phones, at leas that what the Zona and the other guy’s have said.

Yeah it runs all the way down south to Stick Marsh/Headwaters at least, not sure if it continues past that.

big difference between yesterday and today weight wise. blue bird skies and slick calm water seems to be killing the bite

For those that are wondering, I live on the St. John’s near Debary, which is the town on the northwest side of lake Monroe  I’m about an hour south of lake George.

There is very little, if any grass in the river itself from south of lake Harney to lake George. You can thank the state for that with all their spraying. If just ridiculous how much they do. North of George I’m not sure. I know George have eelgrass in it.
The river itself is mainly lily pads, lay downs and trees.
