Ned Rig Baits

Featured Replies

I don't want to break any of the forum rules, so I'll do my best.

There's a bait that is has very elastic properties that is commonly used in ned rigs (I don't know if I can use their actual name on the forum). For those of you that have used them, how have you found bass hold onto them? Is it similar to senkos or do they let them go quicker?

I use Z-Man products a lot.

I love them.  Very durable.  The plastic is soft, so fish crush down on it and get the hook 95+% of the time.

Is that what your question was?

I use both the finesse TRD and big TRD stick baits.

Fair enough. I've seen some blanked out in other posts, so I wasn't sure.

So this is in reference to the Z-Man Finess TRD and the TRD Craw.

I've caught a hell of a lot of fish on both.

Z-Man is my preferred brand of stick baits.

My buddies say they hold onto elaztech way longer other plastics. They’ve had smallies ride the lure all the way to the boat without being hooked, then let go when they saw the boat

Get some procure gel and put 2-3 drops in the bag the night before and smoosh it around.

Elaztec soaks up the gel.  Bass won't let go.

I've experienced bass holding onto the tails or ends of elaztech products as well, but I do use scent so it could be that. I like liquid mayhem, I've only been using the garlic crawfish scent. I should try adding the scent to the whole bag, I usually just apply it to the baits individually.

There's an awesome jig out there, ***, that they refuse to let anyone mention....

I use robo over z man when given the choice but both are great!

It isn't all about who we let be mentioned,  some of them are blocked by request of the companies.

That is interesting!

I like Z-man plastics. But there are so many new variations on

Ned rigs that I'm tempted to try some out; however, the old

adage "if it ain't broke...." plays here, too ;).

Big fan of Z-man Ned baits, but I could do without all of the babysitting the Elaztech to keep it away from every other plastic on the planet. I keep them all in their original bags like they recommend, though I would rather sort my stuff in 3600/3700 tackle boxes.

Spro just launched their own Ned rig bait made of "Dura Tough", material. Also not supposed to be mixed with regular plastics, really stretchy like Z-man stuff. Cool looking little baits though.

This is another one of my favorite Ned rig baits. When they're really keying on small craws, these are killers.

I wanted to like the Z-man craws, but those claws get stuck on the hook so much, it's really a pain to deal with.

I’ve tried several some I bought and some I made.  Zman TRDs are by far my favorite and have produced way more fish.  I have 22 colors of them.

I keep them in the original bags and store them in a small tackle bag. The bag has a front pouch and I keep a small box in there with the jig heads.  Everything is together and ready to go.

The NED has been so successful for me in the past few years I always grab the "NED bag" no matter what I'm fishing for.

Zman stuff is a pain in the rear to care for (storage, etc) but it is the most durable stuff out there. Be cautious of stacking it, try to hang it like it's in-store. The elaztech has serious memory if you leave it under something too long.

Bass hold onto to TRDs pretty well.  They swallow them all the time.

Elaztech absorbs and holds scent really well.  Adding Pro Cure, Megastrike or your favorite scent into the bag of plastics should cause fish to hold on a little longer.

Indeed. Yet another tug to the Ned heart strings :D

I use Zman a lot, not only for Ned's but Neko also. Throw all your plastics in a bucket of water and see what floats...... yes I do it. Lol.

Stand up baits work best. Imo.

The problem is, as soon as I see *** my brain just wants to know what it is I’m not allowed to see.

z man just lasts forever. Ive fished a ned rig once, but I use the razor shad for chatterbait trailers and I’ve yet to have one tear or break and they’re my most effective trailer
