Anyone have experience with this line? I was thinking about using 10# this year for finesse jigs. I have read that 10# should be about 14# equivalent to other brands. I'll be using a Megabass X-Bites rod paired with a Diawa

I use that line and I didn't like it only for one reason, It is COILY and you'll have problem with that, I am using another co-polymer if I want to use one.

I prefer the CX Premium as said CXX is very coily even with KVD line and lure I didn't like it.

Even at 10#?

I have more confidence in it than any other line.  It does have some memory, but it is manageable (starts getting bad at 15lb+ tests). I use the 8lb (.012") for several crankbaits in light cover, and use the 10lb (.014") for wobblers in medium cover.

Any other line recommendations? I run braid to leader on all my rods. Megabass rod guides are so small I don't think the knot will pass through well, even with the FG knot.

That's debatable.  The 10lb at .014" is comparable to 16lb fluoro in strength and diameter.  The 12lb is .0148" and probably breaks at close to 20lbs.  

McCoy Mean Green is the best copolymer line that I have ever used.

P-line CXX is one of largest diameter per lb test on the market. Diameter = strength and memory. What I didn’t like about P-line CXX is it absorbs water and turn whitish color.

Compare line by diameter, I say this all the time.

P-line CXX, 10 lb test is .014 diameter.

Most brands Copolymer line .010 lb  is .012 dia, Izor, McCoy, Gamma, Suffix, Maxima UG*.

Sunline Armillo 11 lb is .010 dia, 15 lb is .012 dia

* Maxima UG has the highest abrasion strength.

I use Sunline Diefer Armillo because it is small diameter, very smooth long casting with high knot strength and abrasion resistance.

Finesse and CXX are like vinegar and water.  It's good line for jigs and swimbaits but 10lb would be hard to manage with finesse tactics.  I would want something softer with less memory.  I would look at Sunline Defier (both versions).  It's pricey but good, long lasting mono. 

 

Also, the X-bites didn't strike me as a finesse rod when I held it in hand.  A great jig and worm rod but it wouldn't be my first choice.  The Bait Finesse comes close. 

I fished 12 lb cxx a bunch last year. It’s very strong and in line with 15-17 lb mono. I had a 600 yd spool that I ultimately put on a surf rod and it’s great there. Memory is awful. Doesn’t matter if you condition it. If you’re throwing moving baits maybe it works for you. It was fine for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits.

 

14 or 17 lb suffix elite mono is a better line for me. 

I use as leader on my walleye set-up (lindy rig), 8lb leader with 10lb nanobraid as main line. For bass fishing, spinning reels get 6-8lb tatsu and baitcasters 12-15Lb Invisx, no leaders.

Less than 0.10" line diameter if using on a spinning reel . Nice as a leader with braid main line or in larger diameter  sizes on a bait cast set up  for pitching into brush and cover . For ffinesse jigs - there may be better lines to consider which give good casting performance with good strength for jig fishing .

I used this line about 10 years ago. I remember I used a lot of line conditioner on it.
