Thought I'd joined the four pond club?

Featured Replies

Can't get my picture to load but here's the story regardless. After a bunch of nice Smallies since I got hooked on this thing, the elusive four pounder seemed out of reach. However yesterday on The Tennessee River at Bridgeport Ala. I hooked what I thought was my prize. She weighed 4-10 on my scales and I was smiling so wide my face was cracking. I put her in the lifewell to compose my thought for a moment and take pictures. When I took her out I weighed again to make sure and this time is showed 3-7. Hmm, I weighed her again and showed 3 even. I was afraid if I continued to weigh her i'd show a negative before long. The disappointment was great. I let her loose not knowing if I indeed joined elusive 4 pound club. I spent 60.00 on the scale and now I am shopping scales again.  What do you guys use? Any idea on how to get a picture under 1.46? The picture on my avatar is my largest to date, unfortunatly also not weighed. Didn't have the scales with me that day, and this bass was fatter than that one.

A failing battery will give you the same problem. Put a fresh battery in & test it again.

You can right click on the picture if it's on your computer then hit modify & select resize. If its on your phone you can email it to your self & it will ask what size pic to send, chose small or medium then use that pic to download into your post.

Dang!!! I got it to work! I had to shrink my beauty to fit. Wish there were more of her and less of me. She may have been a four pounder but even if she were, it would only mean I need to catch a five.

Caught on a Zoom Speedcraw in 12 FOW.

Nice smallie!  I don’t have a scale either - I use the measurement and a conversion chart for lmb/smb weights I found online, usually try to be conservative.  But I really do “need” a scale.

My phone takes pretty large photos, so whatever ones I want to post I email them to myself and choose the “medium” file size when prompted.  I then save them back to my phone again and usually they’re good.

Technically you were fishing Lake Guntersville.  You don’t see a lot of Guntersville smallmouth.  Nice fish.

I use Chatillon and Sons scales.  They last forever and don’t need batteries.  They’re not cheap but you can buy used ones on eBay for $20 - $30.  The old ones are just as good as the new ones.

I have a digital scale that I rarely use. I prefer to just measure them and release them myself. It’s quicker and there’s less stress on the fish too.

A 20 inch bass is generally about 5 pounds here in MN, give or take depending on what time of year it is.

I just try to weight the ones that may be a PB. Almost all others get back in the water quickly. This one was special and very fat. I'm recovering from Covid and the Tennessee River is a great place to quarantine. Just wish I felt better and could have stayed longer. It poured down all day.

Nice smallmouth!

My phone gives me to resize in the upload.

I like footbally fish! She's a beaut. Keep her from Tom Brady, however.
