Aaron Judge hit his 60th home run tonight. While it's doubtful he will catch Bonds for the single season record, he's doing it without using steroids.

 

But not only is he crushing home runs, he leads the league in RBI's and he's now leading the league in batting average - a Triple Crown season. Considering we're in the age of players facing 2-3 relief pitchers each night throwing 96+ mph and he's playing clean, this might be the greatest season for a hitter in the modern era.

Then sign a big fat free agent contract with the Sox this off-season ... 

Imagine how special it would be if those steroid using cheaters hadn’t broken the record years ago.

Some stupid team owner is going to pay this kid 500mil/10 yr deal based on a true anomaly season.   The chances of Judge hitting 60 again is highly unlikely, but you got to love the fact he bet on himself, and he won the mega millions because of it.   

 

All that said, the only players I know are/were clean were the ones that played before PPDs existed in the modern form of anabolic steroids.   

 

Tatis is a great example of how the top 1% of the game will and is in many cases still using high end boutique steroids, many of which are much harder to detect.   

 

Anytime a player hits twice as many HRs almost as the next best HR hitter, you have the question in the back of your head, or at least I do.

Judge has had 3 seasons with 500+ official at bats and in those seasons he has hit 52, 39, and 60 home runs. In the two seasons where he was slowed by injuries and had 447 and 498 AB's he hit 27 home runs in each of those seasons.

 

While he may not hit 60 again, he's a 40-50 home run guy - and a .280+ hitter - when he's healthy.

 

PED testing in MLB is far more strict than in past years. Players get tested in the off season, spring training, and during the season. There is zero indication that Judge is using any PED's. He's always been a strong, muscular player even in college.

Not a baseball fan at all. When Sosa and McGuire were juicing, baseball was more exciting.

I consider 61 that Maris hit to be the real single season home run record. Going to be cool to see it broken. 

The pitching is different today, but Babe Ruth hit 60 in a shorter season.  All is all comparing records across generations is not very accurate.   Judge is having a special season, no one can argue with that. 

 

My Grandson is playing baseball in college.  They check their blood every week.  I don't know if that's the college or NCAA.   I also suspect that there's "stuff" that get's around the tests.

Sure wish pro sports and most of society in general had Bassresource's policy on that matter.

 

MLB is the last major sport I watch.   

 

One thing nobody talks about is Yankee Field's right porch.    I mean come on, a little league player could crank bombs over that.   Wonder how many of his 60 were over the right porch there.

Judge got to 60 in game 147. Ruth hit his 60th in game 154.

Here’s the big question, you’re the fan who catches 61 or 62, do you give it back and get a signed bat and ball like the kid who caught number 60? Do you negotiate a fair market price with Judge and the Yankees? Or do you keep it and eventually send it to auction for the $1 million plus price tag they’re estimating?

 

Me personally, I’d sit down with him and see if he has any desire to keep it. If he does I’d give it to him. If he has no desire, that things going to auction! ?

I would ransom it for $$$$$$$$.  Judge makes millions of $$$$$$  so why cant I get a slice of the $$$$$$ pie?

If he personally came up to me and asked to trade it for bats or whatever I would say no and request he meets me at a bank with my lawyer and forks over whatever amount of money its estimated to be worth.

I may give him a discount of a few hundred thousand if he acts quickley. If not then auction it off.

Dude is going to get a half a BIILLION dollar contract in the offseason.

 

He's paying me lottery ticket money, because that's what I indeed caught, and what it would fetch on the open market.
