So if I had an abundant source of dead mice, do you think this would make a good catfish bait? Presentation I had in mind would be drifted under a float mid- water coulumn at night. Target specie is big white catfish, but channels are possible. 

Try to see. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Cut in half to let the blood and guts disperse into the water would probably be best. Just make sure they sink because the hairs may trap air and make the mouse want to float.

I'm not sure - I remember my cousin (who worked for the DFW in MA) said that there were restrictions on what you could use as bait, but I forget what the list was...been out of MA for 40 years - he retired 15 years ago.

 

I'd check with the DFW to make sure it's allowable.

I have a bug guy/ pest remover that is almost as dedicated as you. Besides regular

visits he shows up on a moments notice when requested. We had tree rats in the

attic a few years ago and killed five.  Have not seen one since.

I meant before it ever gets to the grocery store . And maybe in there too (out back). And of course restaurants…….

Never heard of anybody using a mouse for catfish bait . I   think cut in half would work well . I would use  it . 

If you’re deep frying I like them whole. Makes it easier to dip them in wing sauce and/or ranch. Gotta be careful with getting wing sauce on the rods though.  If you’re making ‘mice and rice’ it doesn’t really matter but it’ll sure keep you warm for winter cattin’. @TnRiver46 knows what I’m saying. Possum ain’t just for breakfast anymore!
