Keitechs are my bread and butter on tough bites, the one problem I have tho is they constantly are sliding down my hook after every other cast. Almost makes me want to switch lures after fixing it 10 times. I was thinking of superglueing them to the head of the jig but maybe someone has a suggestion for a better jig head that has a baitkeeper on it? The ones i currently use are just cheap ballhead jigs from my local tackleshop. I typically run 1/8oz to 1/4 oz, aswell as both the 3 inch and 3.5 inch baits

I fought off using Superglue due to the hassle for a long time, then I started using it a few months back and realized I would never find a trailer keeper as good as it.

 

If you use glue and a screwlock, it's darn near impossible for them to slide down.

 

Just pre rig some baits with glue, way easier and cheaper in the long run.

Owner Ultra Inshore jig is another excellent head for smaller swimbaits, white.

Warbaits heads hold them pretty good. They come in regular (no weed guard), regular underspin, weedless and weedless underspin. Big fan of these.

Once short sentence. So much wisdom! You can entice them to bite, but hooking them solid and keeping them hooked is just as important. 

I really like these for Keitechs, and they have quite a few choices in hook sizes for each weight.

Regardless of the keeper, keitechs tear up pretty easily after a handful of fish. I fish them on swim jigs, plain jig heads, weighted hooks, and the occasional bladed lure trailer. Three or four bass and it’s pretty tore up; after 5 or 6 and you need a new one. I glue before I tie it on and that gets you through the same 5 or 6 bass without having to mess with it.

I find these make Keitechs last the longest and they 100% won't slip down the hook shank.

What size hooks do you typically run for 3-3.5 inch keitechs? Honestly I don’t even know what size hooks are on my jighead, it just states the weight

I second the Berkeley Fusion swim bait heads. Keitechs never slide down.

Size 2 is excellent, 3 will work just fine, but I wouldn't go bigger.    

 

I run 2s on the 3.25 Rage Swimmers which are very close to a 3-3.5 keitech 

 

I run 3s on the 3.5-4.5 similar swimbaits.

Yea i’m not too concerned about them tearing, just want them to stop falling off my hook. I’ve just come to terms with the tradeoff being durability. This past fall I went through 3 packs in 2 days catching chinook salmon on their spawning beds. With their teeth you’re lucky to get 2 fish on the same bait lol

If you’re fishing for salmon, I’d suggest a different plastic. Rage swimmers and a couple others have a very similar action and are a lot more durable. Cohos are a bugger for destroying baits.

Not fishing them at the moment, I am a bank angler that mainly targets bass (thats why I’m in a bass forum after all haha). I can only target them on their runs in the fall. I’ve had good luck with rage swimmers for bass but I’ve tried them with salmon and haven’t even been able to get a bite with them.

You want the wire 'hook' style keeper.  I'm not a fan of screwlocks...

3.3 Keitech fats, 3" - 3.5" Keitech easy shiners. Hard to beat a DG Matt Stefan guppy head for this size. 3/0 for 3.3-3.5". 1/0 for 2.8-3" No jighead is going to have a perfect keeper to keep the material of these Keitechs locked for preferred length of time. I would still use glue when you want to. A gel glue like gorilla gel glue.

 

If you haven't tried and you like underspins for certain situations, try these gammys for an underspin. Wicked hook. Excellent gap and bend to keep to stick them and keep them pinned.

If you're talking 3.8 and higher, their are better options. Some of those options have been mentioned.

I throw 3.8 keitechs on the owner flashy swimmer 3/16oz size I believe. Anything smaller is usually on a 1/8oz ballhead jig.
