Headwaters guide pulls a gun on another!

Interesting that an internet search doesn't find anything like this.  OP has a link to a news article or something concrete?

Lot of these altercations go unreported out there at Headwaters or Stick Marsh. There's a few that do get reported, like the guy who got his boat towed and then pulled a gun on the tow operator when he heard how much the tow was going to cost! Many carry guns out there. In fact, they're encouraged to. Folks talk about the gator situation or the moccasins but it's really all about packing and feeling safe, mainly from rumors like this floating around.

I don't carry a gun.  Many people I know do. I do have one in my home.  I would rather let "godforsaken gun-toting bubbas" carry guns than be at the mercy of criminals.  My guess is most of our critic

Can you stand your ground, even if it's covered in water?...

  • For me like American Express. Don’t leave home without it..

Redneck is as Redneck does...

That term is no longer used as it is offensive, they are called Appalachian American's.

In most of Arkansas, "Redneck" is a term of endearment, definitely not considered offensive.

And that's why I DON'T carry.  It's okay if you do.  I won't judge.  But if I'm unarmed and in a situation where a crazy person pulls a gun on me, I'm gonna smile and politely back down.  I'm pretty good at talking my way out of a jam.  But if I am armed, I might think it wise to defend myself against an unstable aggressor who already has me outdrawn.

Well it’s 2023 every year gets a little crazier. He should loose his guides license. One things for sure the hunt for big bass is not on the decline

Fished with a guy on a tournament series for a few events. I had known him for a while but had never actually fished with him before. Morning of the first tournament, we're sitting in the boat and all of the sudden he pops up out of his seat and tells me "I'll be right back." I'm thinking he had to use the bathroom before blast off, but see him walk right past them back up the hill to the parking lot. A few minutes later he comes down, gets back in the boat, and leans over and puts his shiny pistol in the passenger console glove box. As he's doing it he tells me "I grew up in Florida...I never leave the dock without it." It definitely made me second guess who I was getting in the boat with! It sounds like this must be fairly common down in those parts. Guess that's why "a Florida man" search trick works so well on the google machine.

See where I live you most likely would never need it in your boat, but if you leave it in the truck and go fishing it’s gone

whether i carry mine or not, i'm always going to try and back off in a bad situation.

i have nothing to prove to anyone.  you can call me coward of the county all you want to, i'm gonna sleep just fine.  legal defense is expensive, and getting shot is probably going to ruin a favorite fishing shirt.  a couple of them are at least 20 years old...

one thing i will say is this: if i was paying a guide, and he pulled a gun on someone for what i thought was an arbitrary reason,  we're immediately going back to the dock, and he's probably not getting paid for that day or any others that may have been scheduled  after that. i'm not paying someone to endanger me.  i'm all for self defense.  but i'm not about to start some b.s. over something stupid.
