Wife and I take week long trips to various lakes with the bass boat several times a year.

I've been amazed at the battery life on the 24 volt trolling motor " 70 lb motor guide" .

We recently fished 7 days in a row for 6 hrs per day and the trolling motor felt strong at the end of the week.

This particular trolling motor doesn't have a battery life indicator so was curious how long I could go without a charge.

 

 

 

It's hard to say with out having numbers (amp draw and size of your batteries).  But in my experience if your running the trolling motor on lower speeds and for just short periods of time (low amperage draw). The charge can last a amazingly long time before performance starts dropping off.  Also having a 24V motor draws less amps. Maybe half the draw of a 12V motor for the same work..  Running on high and continuously running at higher speeds will suck the battery/ies down fast.

The 3 Ionics 50ah I'm running on my ghost I finally charged them.  Last time I charged them was the beginning of May.   I've been out about 4-5 times since then.  The main reason I charged them is my 125ah battery that runs my graphs was less than 50%. 

12v lead battery 55 lb thrust 18 foot boat. I can fish way longer than I have time to on a charge. Probably 2-3 times, which is why a lithium is useless for me

I have come close to running mine dead on 500acre electric only lakes. When you say 6 hours of fishing you weren’t 6 hours constant on the trolling motor like I would be for 8 hours on that lake. Now running the river. I never come close even fighting current when I am using my TM. I have a 80thrust terrova.

I’m sure every boat and every trolling motor is different.  Every day on the water is also different.  I’ve never tried to see how long I could go on a charge.  I have measured how much current I pull at different power levels with an amp meter.  I pull 1 amp with the TM on 2,  8 amps with it on 5,  41 amps with it on 10.  Most of the time I fish with it on 3 or less.  There are of course exceptions.  I would expect to be able to run the TM on 2 non stop for 70 to 80 hours.   I would get about 2 hours with it on 10.  
 

If you can’t go 2 typical fishing days on a charge you’re probably looking at a much shorter battery life due to depth of discharge.   That’s true with lithium also.  Don’t believe what the marketing folks say about depth of discharge not affecting lithium batteries.

I never read anything below the price tag when it comes to lithium 

There are a lot of factors to consider in the time you can fish on a single charge.  The longer you go without recharging the more damage you will do to your batteries which will shorten their lifetime.

I haven't either.  I've gone at least a few weeks without charging my batteries during the season though.  Bear in mind that I fish about 1-2 times/week for about 3-4 hours at time and I generally do not use high power constantly with my bow mount.

 

Its better to just re-charge them to full status after each use if you are able to.

I have no idea since I put mine on the charger after every trip

 

I do know that my last trip was 5 hours - 3.5 of which were on the TM running between 3 and 5 speed due to wind. When I plugged in the charger and checked the NOCO - said I was still at 75% charge. That's a 100ah AGM running an Edge 45.
