I have one like @rgasr63 has. For baitcasting I have the line coming off the top. For spinning reels I turn the spools over and let the line come off the bottom. I leave my reels on the rods.

How do you spool it evenly and without line twist on a spinning reel?

I use a stand I made out of 2' X 4' piece of plywood and 2 X 4's for legs. I installed about 6 - 6 in 1/4-20 bolts so I can have 6 different spools of line to choose from. The longer bolts let me use bulk spools if I want. I secure the spool with a rubber cone washer on each side and a wing nut to set the tension. For baitcasters I spool from the side and spinning reels I spool from the front.

That is why I put the spool on the floor and put the line thru all the guides on the rod for spinning reels. I never could have any good luck coming off the spooling rack.

I have the same and love it. It excels at holding bulk spools-which is why I abandoned other methods. If I recall correctly it was less than $25.

Yes, but when you are reeling you are getting line twist with a spinning reel.

 

A BC is easy.  The level wind puts it on there evenly without twist but the line twists every time you turn the handle on a spinning reel so if you are putting it on that way you essentially have a whole spool of twisted line applied.

If it's going on the reel the same way it comes off the spool, there's no twist. I don't put mine on the floor, just mount it on the station and aim the end of the spool at the rod.

 

 

I have a long threaded bolt and on each side of the spool a tapered rubber washer. On one side I have 2 nuts with a lock washer between them. I put this in a vise and tighten it down so there is tension - reel in.

Wow, I'm really primitive.

I simply leave the line in it's original box and shove it between the sofa cushions and pinch the line with leather gloves.

I've done that move, lol. It works. 

I've also used a cymbal stand, because I have like 25 of them. 

@gimruis the first spinning reel I bought was a Shimano. In the paperwork it showed it recommended the line being put on this way. @Glenn has also done a video to put it on this way. I only use mono on my spinning reels. No braid or floro. Once I learned what to do and not do to avoid line problems it has worked very well doing it this way.

I recently ordered some Sunline Sniper from Tackle Warehouse.  It came in this simple container with a whole in it for spooling.  I don't know how long they have been packaging their line this way, but it was a pleasant surprise to me.  Great idea.  Now if they would cut the price in half, I may buy another spool.

 

this worked!!  I popped a tire off my kayak wheels and the axle was perfectly sized.

The level wind or bail and oscillation should lay line smoothly and feeding off the bottom of the filler spool will avoid line twist 

Great topic.  I don't hsve one.  Just wing it.

Heavy and worth it for bulk spools if you have zero engineering skills.

I use the fishon one always - it holds bulk spools and line tension is not a problem for my baitcasters also (hand reel).

 

I use backing line for every spool so I don't waste line and I do not crank forever hand reeling.
