I've been disappointed with the hook I've been using lately for tube fishing. It's a Gammy EWG worm hook and what I feel is the reason for my disappointment is the lack of bite with this hook. The hook point and line tie are in a direct line with each other. I switched from the Trokar EWG last year, not because I was unhappy with it, but because I like many of the other hooks Gamakatsu offers.

Anyway, I'm looking for a hook with more bite and ran across the G-Finesse Hybrid. Plenty of bite and if I'm not mistaken, it's a lighter wire hook which fits perfectly with fishing tubes.  Anyone use them for their tube fishing, or for trick worms?

They disappointed me and find standard wire EWG Gamas to be the best.    I can't find a better hook than the Gama standard EWG one, tried lots.  

I like them. I don't use it for tubes however. But for mag trick worms and french fry baits on a c-rig I've had good luck them.

Owner makes a specific hook for tubes , I cant remember the model number but I get them at BPS.

I've used the Gama G finesse hooks on small worms with good success. The ones Ive used are the Roboworm hooks with the plastic keeper on the hook shank.

Been using a nybrid style hook the past couple years that I really like for light tackle, made by Decoy called a Dream Hook.  Its a light wire hook, thats like a needle.  I like using them for free rigs on calm days when I cant get too close to the fish without spooking them.  Even at distance all you need a reel set to get good penetration.  Had a 3lb fish get wrapped around a lilly root a few weeks ago.  Had to put a lot of pressure on it to get the fish out and I was sure the hook would straighten.  It wound up bending pretty good, but even a Gami EWG would have opened a little too.  If you like to throw free rigs or stick baits on spinning gear or even BFS a Dream hook is a good option IMO.

I have a pack of the Decoy Dreams around somewhere. but not sure I could find them now.

 

I have been using the Ryugi, Infini hook and it is a good one.  word of caution, they seem to run smaller than usual.  like a 3/0 seems closer to a 2/0

I think a tube would be the last thing I would use this hook for. To me, it would be too thin despite it being sharp and coated and also the bend would be off. I like these for worms and few creature baits. The Trokar's you went to are pretty good on tubes but I still like the Owner Phantom Tube rigs the best. As far as a good general purpose hook goes, I like the Ryugi Infini. I order them from Japan for about $3 a pack. It's a great hook and you can't beat the price.

I too am using the Infini. Really like it. I thought they were a bit smaller than expected. Thought it was just me! You confirm what I observed.

 

Even so, excellent hook and good value. Will be tough to knock these out of my rotation.

Yep, thats them.  I like every hook ive ever bought from Decoy.  I like the Ryugi Duo hooks.  When I fish traps in stump fields and lily roots late winter, I pull both trebles off and use 1 or 2 duo hooks depending on the cover.  If I do get snagged, I can just lean on the rod and the hooks will open enough to get the lipless back, instead of running the boat into the cover and blowing out the spot.

I really like the Gamakatsu G Finesse Hybrid Worm hook. Senior basser looking for an advantage to hooksets with soft plastics including Trick worms. 

Tubes Texas get this

I must be the odd man out because I have found the Vmc ewg hooks give me the best results. I use the gammies for the superline hooks and the flipping hooks . The g-lock hook was a disappointment for me too.

Have you settled on your hook yet?

Yes, I've been using the Owner Phanthom for an internal weighted hook and the Eagle Claw Lazer Sharp Tube Hook for T-rigging. Trokar also offers a similar tube hook, but they tear up the plastic and I'm happy with this version.
