The new toy is finally getting a good workout around here. Cleared about 14” this morning before work, and when I got home there’s another 10” ready to blow again. Still more squalls coming all this e

  • Must be a grizzly scene there today.  Full on panic mode.

Look at the terror we got from the sky last night! I might have to go warm up the tractor to clear the driveway 😄.
We did finally get temps below freezing last night for what seems like the first time in weeks. Still no measurable amount of snow at all in the long range forecast though.

It would be worth warming up that thing even if there was no snow to clear. Nothing runs like a Deere.

Same here in upstate NY. It’s been 45-50 degrees and rainy every single day with no snow in the 2 week forecast as of now. With how bad we got thumped the last few winters, I think we deserve a mild one this year 🤞🏻

Seems northern Michigan has adopted a

Zero Tolerance Policy on hard water this winter.

Not surprisingly, I'm actually good with that.

Observe the Lake Menderchuck open water trifecta yesterday.

I am so conflicted right now . . . .

I walked along a lake yesterday and it was about 50% open. Like you, I've got one on the bass being posted in "Latest Catches" and another eye on that open water. I wouldn't launch on water this cold, but I could cast from the shore.

Lack of safe ice here in MN is causing all kinds or problems, even in the far northern portion of the state. Don’t be stupid people, stay off the ice.

Looks a little colder in about a week.  Still not much for snow in the forecast though.

At this point I'm just tired of being cold all of the time. Daytime temps here in central GA have been mid 40's to mid 50's but it has been breezy during the daytime hours making it seem much colder. Night time and early morning temperatures have been in the 20's. It seems like we've had a much longer stretch of cold weather this winter than the past two years I have been in this area.

Fishing? Forget it. I've been out a two times but caught just one crappie. Water temps were in the low 50's but I'd bet they are in the 40's now. Unless we get a warm day I think I'm shutting down for a while. That's too bad because I had just purchased an Old Town Sportsman Autopilot and I really want to put it through its paces.

I can't wait for spring. Now I'm off to make some hot chocolate and try and warm up again.

@Koz, when you dial in the winter fishing it will change your world, don’t give up yet. Won’t be long before youre sweating and the lake will look like havasu with crap for brains wakeboarding in all directions

First measurable snowfall looks like its finally headed to my part of upstate NY this weekend. Looks to be a 3-5 incher. Then its saying back to the high 40s early next week. Last year I didn't see a single ice shanty because the ice was too weak, and I have a feeling it will be a similar story this year.

Some lakes by me in central MN are still completely ice free. That is unheard of here for January. Haven’t seen it it my lifetime living here.

Same here and once we get some 'fishable conditions',

I'm hoping we can both catch bass that are in the same category.

Yep...same here. Been in Iowa for 23 winters...never seen anything like this.

Ice fishing gear not selling here either.  Which includes beer.  A guy doesn't dare go ice fishing without beer.

We're forecast to get somewhere between 2" and 10" saturday night into sunday this weekend.  We're right on the edge of the current models, so if the storm moves 25 miles one way we'll get 0-2".  If it goes 25 miles the other way (less likely in current forecast) we'll be at 10".  The current most likely is 8", but I think its going to be 4-8" in the end.  I actually bought a new snow shovel 2 weeks ago.  Just need to fire up the snow blower today/tomorrow to blow out the cobwebs.  We have no plans this weekend, so its going to be a stay at home day.

My local Bomgaars already has snowblowers and shovels marked down. Don't normally see that til late February \early March.

My wife is bored as there is no snow to shovel, some snow is coming the next 2 days, less than an inch so probably not enough to give her a good workout.

Tough to ruin a shovel when there’s no snow huh
