My wife got me a couple of these for Christmas. Mine are 3/8 oz Willow Leaf Single Spinner in colors grey/orange and yellow/black. I've never used them before. Is there anyone here that uses them with success? I am mainly a Largemouth Bass fisherman, but if they are known good for other things, that's good to know too.

I'd guess they'd be similar to a Beetle Spin. Do they snag bad? Beetle Spins seem to snag more than spinnerbaits, but since the H&H is jointed at the hook and not at the wire/head, I'd guess they would be more snag resistant.

I appreciate the comments, especially those about river fishing. I don't fish a lot of rivers, but my fishing buddy does. When I've been out, I've been sort of lost. I've been wanting to figure out some river specific techniques or lures. Not that bass are that much different there than on the lake, but just having some idea helps with the confidence bunches.

I dont fish them around wood because they snag easily . I   cast them upstream along river rip rap . Let it settle and as soon as it touches down , pop it off bottom and try to time the retrieve so that it stays slightly off bottom but fast enough that the blades can be felt  .

1/6 oz. -- killer in ponds and small lakes. I've used it while marsh fishing, too.

I love em.  Used to keep one tucked in my wallet.  Need to scoop up a lot more just in case the new owners of H&H decide to discontinue. 

I've not used mine yet, but I see the hook hangs freely. I'm thinking if I add a piece of tubing to the loop on the body before I put the hook through, similarly to the way you rig a trailer hook, it might help with snagging some. Anyone ever try this?

No but I add a split ring ,or wire to the shank of the hook on both the H&H and Strike king Rocket Shad. Not to keep it in place but to keep the hook from coming off during the fight with hard pulling fish . It has happenned to me twice battling hybrids.

 

Growing up in Baton Rouge, where the H&H home office is located, my buddies and I used H&H spinnerbaits all the time. I can remember paying $0.19 for them. 

 

I was taught to remove the skirt, turn it around backwards and slide it back on the body. The double hooks should be put on with the hooks pointing upwards. 

 

I still have a few in my boat for those times when the fish are feeding on really small baitfish.

I keep a small box of H&Hs along with a short pistol grip rods for when I am fishing out of jon boat deep in the woods where creeks and sloughs are about 20 feet wide.  For some reason, these things are deadly for "thicket" fishing.
