I caught my first 2024 2fer (two bass on one lure), my biggest bass was 20.75", and I caught 37 total with a 60/40 lmb/smb ratio. Also saw or heard owls, woodpeckers, eagles, osprey, loons, ducks, and geese. I fished the biggest of the bodies of water that I fish and the most developed, with cabins and other anglers, although because I launched this morning at 4:00 and 41 degrees, I had the pond to myself. There were wolf packs chasing shad in old and emerging reeds. I usually can't catch them, but I pitched my Keitech on an Owner underspin into the salad, kept my rod high, and reeled like crazy to keep it on the surface. They hit it! Not every time, but I finally caught some of those wolfpacking bass. I think it was moving too fast for them to see it wasn't one of the shad that they were chasing. I got a lot of pics, but only loaded a third of them. See how tame the loons are at this pond? They sometimes follow me.

Thanks, Bankbeater. I caught a number of 17-inchers, an 18.5-incher, and the 20.75-incher, who did not represent herself well. The two-pounders outfought her.

Another killer trip ~

You're racking them up.

Such a scenic & apparently super serene area to fish.

Living the Dream

Congrats

As they say it’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.  I believe it 100%.

Also weird how sometimes two fish, both the same size but from different bodies of water, one will fight harder than the other.

As @A-Jay and others have proven, Michigan has great fishing. I've had some of the best fishing days of my life in Michigan and I haven't even fished Lake St. Clair. With your kayak, I'd fish the smaller, overlooked bodies of water, just like I fish. Do you have wheels for it?

One of my favorite places to fish was the Whitefish River in the U.P. It gets pounded, but it is full of big bass, pike, and walleye.

@A-Jay, I followed your advice and now all my photos have the right orientation.

I'm headed back there tomorrow, @BrianMDTX. I left my canoe there yesterday to fish it two more times this week. Fingers crossed.

Awesome day! So cool catching all those nice fish and a double! I always feel like a double really means the fishing gods are smiling on you.

@pdxfisher: I'm going back there tomorrow morning and hope to fish it one evening too. Then I'll bring my canoe home and fish other water.

I caught 75 bass this morning and my PB pickerel, Tim. I'm going fishing again tomorrow. I don't like to fish three mornings in a row due to my age, but they're hitting right now and I want to ride this train a little longer.
