I feel so inept.

Had dinner at my oldest daughter’s home tonight. She had friends come over.  One of the children went over, took the TV remote and turned it on, searched the features and selected the Disney channel, proceeded to g through the movie selection and stopped on one and selected play.  She climbed on the couch and enjoyed her movie program.  She is 18 months old.

yea.  my 96 years old neighbor.  she just bought a smart TV.   she wanted me to explain it to her.  it was like I was speaking to a Martian...I put it on her favorite news channel and bailed on her.

I'd go get in the 18 month-old girl's face and straight-up challenge her to a skipping contest with a baitcaster.  That'll sort out the inept from the ept.  💪

I’d go sit on the couch with that 18mo old and just love on ‘em

Yeah, but can she tie a FG knot?

Right there with you! We’ve got smart tv’s, other than the picture I hate them. Give me an old school dumb tv.

Younger children/babies seem like they come out of the womb knowing how to operate phones and tablets. Kind of impressive, and kind of scary all the same.

But working out a TV remote is higher level thinking

I’d like to see a kid from 2025 try to program a VCR.

Forget trying to program one, I’d like to see the look on their faces when you tell them they have to rewind the “tape” before it can be watched!

I was a computer tech for 40 years.

Bought a new Denon Reciever for surround sound 2 years ago replacing my old Onkyo that still used RCA connectors. After buying all new cables and getting that straightened out to my 6 speakers I couldn’t figure out the receiver software, must be a million things you need to tweak to get it to work.

2 months ago I bought a soundbar and repurposed the receiver as a radio in the workshop. The speakers awaits the next dump run.

I guess it’s all relative, I remember the first I saw a bar code scanner at the grocery store, or an ATM.
