What company?

Could be a good deal. But at the same time it could bite you in the arse and actually pay more than the original price if they don’t ship it right away and get hit with a tariff.

Pay Day Money GIF

Someone asked for an update so here it is.

I placed my order from JLS on 8/16.

They were on holiday until 8/22.

I just got an update that the FedEx label was just created.

If the 8/29 deadline does actually happen, I should be "A-OK".

With that said, if anyone is ordering now, I'd be prepared to pay extra. They are processing orders via first come first serve so there are still plenty of orders placed behind me. Almost a weeks worth.

I'm in the same boat. I placed my order Sunday the 17th. I hope it makes it. If I am charged,  I will not stand for it.

I'd have to guess you are also fine.

I bet you get an email tomorrow or so.

Once FedEx gets the package it doesn't take too long to receive.

I've gotten several packages from them and I have gotten some in three days. Faster than an order from Tackle Warehouse. JLS has been great.

Definitely one of the best parts of ordering from them. Its always something good. I still have a few 110s new in box that they sent me but the best part is getting some softplastic that I would never buy.

I ordered a Metanium from Digitaka on Aug 12th during their holiday period. I just got the reel delivered by FedEx today the 21st.

Then teach your nephew and any other youngster starting our that tournament pro level gear isn't necessary to enjoy fishing.  IMHO, the explosion of HS and even middle school tournament fishing is ruining the sport for those of us who truly enjoy just fishing.  I can't stand the massive tournaments that seem to occur all the time.  Very little sportsmanship or courtesy is being taught in my many interactions with these kids.  I hope the price increases slow the expansion.

Yesterday I saw a couple of teens in a no doubt leaky jon boat with a small outboard and few combos that were so excited they couldn't stand it, just because they could get out for a couple of hours before dark. It reminded me so much of me when I was that age.  Every time I get fed up with how things are, I thank God for kids that remind me what it's all about.

It’s not hard to try and explain to them they don’t need a full 20 combos to enjoy fishing. It’s seeing their faces when the next kid in line has parents who dropped 75k on a kitted out bass boat and they need to fish in a dinky Jon.

I don’t like fishing against boats with 25k in electronics, or yaks with 360 and FFS. It’s the reality they know they are under gunned if they don’t have the gear.

I 100% blame high school and college teams for not banning that trash from the jump. 2D down sonar is all they need and the skill with a stick in hand should come first.

The reality is fishing as we remember it is gone and isn’t coming back.

Sounds like keeping up with the Jones is more important than fishing for those kids then.....

I guess I must be a unicorn because I never cared or coveted what other fisherman were using..certainly not to the point were it caused me to enjoy fishing any less. If I had the choice between not fishing or fishing in a dinky Jon....I'll take the dinky Jon, thank you very much! LOL 😆 I never owned a boat as a teen so that would have been a dream!

Fishing as we remember it still exists if you truly want it to.

I placed an order at Japan Lure Shop last night and had shipping notification email this morning. Insanely fast turnaround.

That’s the lesson that they need taught - they are by no means undergunned without that stuff.

Skill and confidence will always be there, while a dead battery or something causing electronic interference makes some guys a complete non issue.

To me, if anything the kids in the decked out rigs are at a huge disadvantage- they aren’t learning boat control, topography and triangulation, or myriad other skills that would allow them to be thrown in any vessel, on any body of water and be competitive.

As any of us who have ever seen an 80’s movie will instinctively know, there is great joy in handing the rich kids’ butts to them.

If I can get in the water in a jon or float tube I’m in the water. It’s in my blood to fish and I have family that feel the same way.

I would tend to disagree about fishing quality being the same. The pressure on productive lakes is higher than it’s ever been in my lifetime. Big bass never get respite because FFS or “Harass a Bass” chases them across the lake. From weekend warriors to a serious pros the population is hammered. My experience is simply anecdotal as I can’t possibly be on every body of water, but I’ve seen a consistent trend throughout East TN waters. Larger and more often occurring tournaments combined with casual anglers using FFS has diminished the quality of fish in my lakes.

In a competitive situation a team with the gear and know how to use FFS they will out perform regular joe with skill 90% of the time. Why did we see a number of fresh names start making consistent podiums using the technology? Why is it now being banned in part or whole for multiple compatible bodies? Because the skill of the fisherman has been replaced with the accuracy of the FFS screen. Right or wrong FFS has dramatically changed the sport of bass fishing.

For my nephew it’s not a situation of “keeping up with the jones” among his club. It’s showing up to a gun fight with a pocket knife. I’ve said in the past from youth through college they should only be allowed down imaging chirp sonar. See contours, water temp, and depth. The rest should be angler knowledge and skill.

Are you're saying that the only way your nephew can enjoy fishing is doing it competitively and at great cost?

I guess many of us are fortunate that we can do it just for the pure love of fishing.

I agree we can go out and walk the rivers and creeks of TN for smallies, hop in a boat and fish Chick, or float around in yaks on watts bar. Nothing is impacting the joy of fishing the wonderful water here in TN.

The issue comes up when he wants to join the high school team, or fish a derby with me. When he doesn’t have the gear it dramatically reduces his chances of winning. It’s simply not an even playing field.

People need to understand there are many of us willing to spend thousands a year on entry fees, more on travel and expenses, to fish competitions across the country. I fished through the southeast on my kayak the year before last. Brought my wife and dogs and stayed at rentals in the Carolina’s, Florida, and Bama. We had a ton of fun.

What wasn’t fun was launching and seeing every other yak with 15k in electronics. Watching them out scoping just following a single fish until they catch it. Watching more than half of the top 10 at every event be guys glued to their screens.

Those experiences changed how I’ll fish competitions in the future but those kids coming up through the system don’t have a choice. They buy the gear or get left behind.

I agree with you on the need to limit the technology, but why handicap the kid by letting him believe he’s behind the 8 ball?

One of the biggest hammers I know runs an old (ugly too) Champion with an X102C on the bow and a Hook 5 on the console, yet he manages to make the scopers look silly on a regular basis. Confidence will put far more (and better) fish in the boat than gadgets will.

A friend of mine was at a BPS last week and I asked him to pick up 2 colors of a specific lure for me;  I had already checked the price on line.  He took them off the display which was priced as it showed on line.  The cashier scanned the bar code and the price was 33% higher.  My friend put up a fuss and received the as marked price;  he was told the prices were going up so fast that store employees were not able to change them fast enough to keep up with the cash registers.  That 33% increase was on top of a 20% increase the lure received earlier this year.  It's made in China.

I thought Yamamoto plastics were made here.  Are Zoom and Yum the only major plastic brands not outsourcing?

Edit-  Google ai says yamamoto plastics are made in Arizona, so don't know why BPS would raise the price.

Oh man, I don't know how many times this needs to be said, but here we go again...

Just because something is "Made in America" doesn't mean it's exempt from tariffs. Often (raw or manufactured) materials, machinery, and parts used to create a product in America come from overseas.  All of those are getting hit by tariffs, hence the higher costs you're seeing now.

To put another way, it's increasingly difficult to find something that is entirely and exclusively "Made in America." Therefore, blanket tariffs raise the price of virtually everything "Made in America".

And in case this is breaking news, the consumer pays the tariff, not the country of origin, meaning the U.S. consumers are seeing higher and higher prices now as a result of tariffs.

I kinda feel like I'm shouting in the wind, though.  Nobody seems to be paying attention to how tariffs work...and, especially, don't work.  They were warned....

I get the 'some parts of American products are made overseas' on certain items made here, but I was referring to the Senko.  Vast majority of plastisol is made in America.  Salt is up $20 a ton since 2019 ($74 now)...maybe that's the culprit.  Time will tell if tariffs lead to inflation.

Already is - Wife and I did an experiment....Took a grocery list from 2 months ago and went to buy the exact same items....the new grocery bill was 15% higher - in just 2 months.

Inflation rate of 3.7% - well ya...cause it doesn't include food in that figure. And of course that lower number is what our COLA increase next year is going to be based on...so every year, we get an increase to our SS - but because they don't count food in the 'official' inflation figure, we keep loosing ground

The primary ingredients for plastisol—PVC resin, plasticizers, and pigments—are sourced from a complex global supply chain dominated by China, and countries in Europe (mainly Germany) and Southeast Asia.

The machinery used to make the Senkos are either made overseas or the parts are made overseas.

The packaging for Senkso is, guess what?

And salt? Yup, costs more to mine/produce due to the same reasons.  Shipping? Ya, it's best to assume EVERYTHING in the supply chain is affected.

And so on, and so on, and so on.

They were warned about using tariffs this way....few listened...except to the rhetoric.  And now here we are.
