Forum problems?

Featured Replies

Multiple times today, I've had the forum start glitching and then it locks up google chrome. It has only happened using bassresource. Anyone else experiencing problems?

Here's a screenshot of it. It starts with a thick line like this and then the whole window goes black within a few seconds.

Cloudflare has been having internal server code issues causing outages.

Massive outages point to fragility in global internet infrastructure

Recent Cloudflare, AWS outages leading to many technical issues on numerous platforms like OpenAI reveal internet’s dependence on global providers and fragility, says computer scientist

@Bazoo I’ve never experienced that before. @Jigfishn10 I’ve experienced your situation a few times, not sure what it’s all about but a refresh and it’s all good on my end.

@Glenn any insight?

  • Super User

I agree with the refresh @12poundbass, even a cache clear but the error message mentions BR Site Host Error. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb construction guy and NOT an IT guy whatsoever :)

As FFF said - it's all CloudFlare. I've had that same issue on other websites....nothing Glenn can do about it from this end.

Well, you're talking two different issues.  @Bazoo's issue is local - it's something with his browser or computer.  Likely cache, but I can't say for sure.  A reboot and clearing cache will probably solve it.

The issue @Jigfishn10 noted is one I've seen for nearly a year, but it's very random.  Since nobody mentioned it previously, and I asked a few people if they'd seen it, and they hadn't, I thought it was just affecting me.  I tried searching server log files, but found nothing conclusive.  Since it's random, I haven't been able to reproduce it on demand. Server load and reboots seemingly have no effect.  I stopped investigating at that point because I thought it was happening to just me, plus refreshing the page always clears it.

My issue is local. But it only happens on BR. Refreshing the page doesn't help, and the corrupts chrome so that when closing the tab, the other tabs are affected.

I will try clearing my cookies for BR.

I have experienced the Cloudflare issue as well, but rarely. I figured that the server is probably so busy with requests that it can't handle it.

Best fix - dump Chrome....go to FireFox.

I've been using FireFox since 2009....every time I try something else, I dump that and go back to my FireFox.

  • Super User

It's all CloudFlare - go harass them as nothing can be done from BR's end.

I've always just assumed the Glenn put me in a "Time Out" due to his jealousy of my beard. Usually works fine when I log in later.😁

I get J’s issue too, it’s cleared when I refresh. Had it a couple times today. Safari on an iPad.

I've had some other problems as well, now that I think of it. If I try to link to a youtube video, it will not auto embed. It then says... you can't do that and bam the forum locks up and redirects and says "something went wrong."

If I go back to the page, the auto save will have the video and it'll then post.

I'm using chrome also and I've had none of the mentioned issues.

The forum always glitches whenever I try to paste a picture in the reply box. Whenever you paste the link, it tries to automatically render the picture, then it glitches and refreshes the page.

When you go to the page again, the reply, with the link is automatically saved in the reply box, but the picture doesn't render. If you paste the link in the reply box again, it renders like it should.

This is a screenshot of immediately after I paste the link and it tries to render, when it locks up and glitches.

Happens to me almost daily.  I just refresh and ignore.

Like I always say, "Clear your cache and cookies, then reboot your computer".  It's very common to get a corrupt file on your computer.  That's why a good cleansing on a regular basis is recommended.
