Trucker hats

Featured Replies

A lot of my hats are the trucker style. I much prefer a ball cap style. But they are getting harder to find. My heads small lol. And finding a trucker hat that fits right and doesn’t look stupid is hard to do. And I wear a hat every day mostly

Trucker hats ?

What about ankle socks ?

How do we feel about eating with a spork ?

And does spam actually go with baked beans ?

I bet Ricky Ricardo would know.

Yup, it's the middle of March.

I like a short crown cap referred to as a “dad hat” or my Stetson wool-felt crushable..

One thing people might not realize is that baseball caps come in “stitch” length. This refers to the length of the bill. For example, I wear a 4 stitch behind the plate under my mask, then switch to a 6 stitch for the bases. Most baseball caps that are sold are 8 stitch. I prefer a 6 stitch but they are hard to find. The stitch refers to how many rows of stitching there are on the bill. I also prefer a flat bill cap when calling baseball as well. When I was growing up in the 70s/80s, as much curve as you could put into a bill was the thing. Never could understand a flat bill until I started umpiring… most of my “non-umpire” caps have a slight curve to them now, but nothing like when I was young…I wanted the edges of the bill to touch my face skin…

Oh, and I’m a fitted hat guy, and if not fitted, it’s a snap-back. OSFM (one size fits most) hats usually don’t work for me…

I've fought two grown men wearing trucker hats with sporks while wearing my favorite ankle socks. The fight was over the last Spam and mashed Bush baked bean sandwich. Never got their names but I guess one of them could've been Ricky.😁

Trucker hats ? Overrated, but still has a core group of enthusiasts.....

What about ankle socks ? Popular with the minimalist crowd or those who can't completely commit to going barefoot.

How do we feel about eating with a spork ? The over achiever of utensils who never attained the celebrity status of fork and spoon. Still, there are devotees that discretely employ their use primarily on camping trips.

And does spam actually go with baked beans ? According to the Culinary Institute of America, they are often served together and never fail to delight.

I bet Ricky Ricardo would know. When reached for comment, a spokesperson for Ricky replied with a "No comment." Investigating further, we reached out to Steven Wright, his response was as follows.....

Steven's response....

I wear ankle socks IF I’m wearing something other than Birkenstocks or Chaco’s. I’ve eaten questionable meals in the army and locations abroad. However, I’m not a fan of Spam. Sporks, forks, fingers, whatever helps me get the food to my mouth the quickest.

In the warm months I wear a KastKing Boonie. I have no idea if they make good reels or not, but they may great outerwear. The boonie does a great job of protection and venting. Their SPF moisture wicking fishing shorts with hoodie and built-in gaiter do a great job of keeping me cool in 90+ degree weather.

In cooler months I wear one of my Kistler Team ballcaps.

I've worn ball caps most all of my 75 years except the last 2 or 3, i've developed some sores on top of my bald head that come and go and are sore with a ball cap on top.Nowadays I usually just pull up my hoodie.

I’m a hat guy. I probably have over 100 of them. Nearly all are baseball type, including some trucker hats. The way I define trucker hats is hats that have more of the cap in front , they stick up higher, and are mesh in back. I have some of them, mostly bass pro in various colors. They were really popular in the 70s and 80s, and have made a comeback recently.

Then you have what I call flat bb caps. They don’t have much depth, and sit flat on top of your head.

I like what I call medium hats. They dont stick up like trucker hats, but they don’t lay flat on your head either.

I can’t stand the new bb caps that have the wider brim , and stick up high on your head. And nobody folds the bill, the style dictates that it stays straight.

Here is a pic of one of my favorite “ medium” hats- my Florida man hat !

The bill is much shorter than it looks.

Looks like we made the billboard in Brainerd, MN again this year for Al Lindner's charity fishing tournament. With my favorite style hat on - a structured bill somewhere between a trucker and dad hat. My fishing partner had a blue "Dude Wipes" lid on that they cut his logo off. I think its because it was a flat brim..!

You'll need those dude wipes to clean up after that rock bass, aka a swimming turd.

You must have a couple of those zip front one piece jump suits hanging around also!

My best friend’s step father wears one 24/7, 365. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him in anything other than a “Phil Armentrout” jumpsuit (that’s his name). Been wearing them since ‘83.

Thought I’d give you a view of a 4 stitch cap “in action”
