Favorite Sinker Stops

Featured Replies

This might be a silly thing to obsess over, but I am about to have to replenish my stock of them and am taking recommendations. I don’t recall which brand I have been using, but they seem to slip a little bit when I use a 3/8 sinker on 12# Big Game.

I purchased these in medium. I use 12lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid, 65lb and 50lb Sufix 832, 6lb and 15lb flouro leaders, and 6lb Trilene. The medium size definitely slips on the 6lb stuff. It doesn't move on the braid. When I pulling through wood or vegetation it slips on the 12 and 15lb but it does not slip when casting to open water. Warning, I rarely fish weights heavier than 1/4oz. You may want the small diameter. I will buy the small when I replenish. I would rather fight them onto the braid than reset them every few casts. Considering that they are supposed to be bobber stops and I use them with tungsten weights I feel they work very well for the money.

I just go on Amazon and buy bulk packs of like 5000 bobber stops in medium for like $10 or that was the price last time I ordered. Only time they slip is when I get a fish, no other issues with 12 lb big game

When I stocked up on tungsten weights through Sieberts, I stocked up on Mike’s bobber stops which are great.

I always threw sinker stops on to my online orders when it need a be little to make free freight. I didn’t realize how cheap they were on Amazon. I can just use multiple to avoid slipping at that price.

Several E-Bay vendors offer lifetime supply assortment packs (S, M, & L)

at almost stupid cheap pricing. purchased one many moons ago and I'll never need to resupply.

So I'm talking 720 units for $10 bucks vs. 6 units for $3 bucks locally.

Good Luck

You can get virtually a lifetime supply from Amazon dirt cheap. If one slips, use two. I use one on 30# braid and it only slips when I catch one or I get humng up on something. Just push it back down and keep going.

Bought 3 different sizes from Amazon or Ebay because I didn't know what size I needed. These will rot before I can use 1/2 of them.

I did the same, buying off Amazon. I bought them a couple years ago and still have a ton of them. But what I have noticed is the rubber material has degraded enough to leave black marks on your fingers when installing them. No big deal as it doesn’t affect the way they work.

I had no idea he had some or I would have done the same. I don't see them on his sight and a search turns up nothing. Does he only list them when he has them?

They are on the site. Smart Pegs in 3 packs. 👍

The best ones that I’ve found at the 6th sense ones. I think they are called peg x. Something like that. But after hearing all this chatter about a lifetime supply, you might want to try that route first. I only went with the peg x because they hold a 3/8 and lower bullet weight without much slippage.

Used to fish a ton of mojo rigs and went through stops like mad. I prefer pegs, as they stop the weight and dont get scummed up like stops. Got some stops from Sieberts to try out, they look good, but havent used them yet.

This. Have done the same and can also recommend.

And while this wasn't asked, below is the best cushion I've used when Free Rigging.
