Really struggling with finding a knot that will hold and somewhat easy. Using 15# braid and connecting a 10# flouro for leader using the Yucatán knot. If I wrap it 10x it cinches up nice but will not hold. If I wrap it 14-15x it holds but looks like a rats nest. Been trying last 2 evenings tying 5-6 knots before getting frustrated..

Suggestions on a knot a 62 blind guy with fumble fingers can have success?

Leaders are not necessary for bass fishing. Just use straight braid or fluorocarbon, depending on the situation.

Light line like that I just tie a uni-uni. 7 wraps on the fluoro 12 on the braid. Easy to tie and never had an issue going through guides.

Alberto hasn't failed me on light line....all the way down to 6# braid to 4# FC. As a 66 year old with one eye and carpal in my left-hand, it's relatively simple too.

Improved Allbright knot.

The trick to tightening this knot, remember which direction you rolled the braid loops.  Lightly snug all four (standing and tag) ends.  First take up the braid tag end while rolling the braid loops in the same direction you wrapped them.  Before it's tight, take up the leader tag end to bury the bend in the loops.  Finish tighten the braid tag (still rolling braid loops), then final tighten by pulling both standing ends.  I finish by wetting the knot with pink-label Zap CA+

IMO, its pretty hard to beat the Alberto knot. Its thin to run through guides, very strong, works well dissimilar or similar dia of lines, quick to tie and fairly easy to lean. It takes a little while to learn how to cinch it well, so that its not too low on the bend of the leader, or too high. You want to walk it down, by alternating pressure on leader, them mainline. Once its at the optimal position, you pull all 4 lines until it tightens, then you just pull each mainline with a good amount of force to seat the knot.

If you don't feel you're getting the Alberto down, then I would recommend using which ever iteration of the Albright is easiest to tie for you.

The Uni-Uni/Double Uni knot, is very simple. It doest have the strength of an Alberto, some types of Albright or FG, however its more than serviceable. The uni uni, has a little more dia. when compared to other connections. Its not the best option for longer leaders that require you to take the knot into the spool. It will work with a little bit of deviation, but its best when both leader and tag are of similar dia.

Unless you're fishing gin clear water, do you really need a leader? I caught this 6-0 Saturday on a shaky head with 20# straight braid. I haven't used a leader in years. I catch fish on 20# straight braid on spinning and 30# on my BC combos, except for the frog rod that has 50. And I've caught fish on T-rigs and jigs on that combo with straight 50#. I used to use a leader. But I had a couple break off. I concluded it was just another possible failure at some point. Braid lasts a very long time.

I used a double uni when I used one. I didn't like how it felt in the guides.

There is an entire industry suggesting that invisible line matters. However, the more I fish, the more I move towards the WRB line of thinking that bass are not line shy and it does not matter. I don’t even bother coloring my high vis braid any longer when punching. With that said, I tie leaders because of abrasion around riprap, having to break off around riprap, and toning down the fouling on walking baits and jerks.

I haven’t been cranking on the bottom these last couple of years, but that might require something without braid.

Back to back uni if the lines are of similar diameter, if not, Alberto knot. If your failures are at the knot, lubricate the line with saliva and tighten slowly. For me, that's been the key to success with knots and fluorocarbon line. I caught a 20lb 5oz channel cat a few weeks ago tossing a spinnerbait up against the bank. No problem on 30 pound braid with a 15 pound leader tied on.

I'm working my way away from using leaders. Straight braid for everything except, cranking, bottom presentations in chunk rock and topwater (buzzers and frogs are the exception).

I never delved too deep into intricacies and variants. I tie, what I thought was some sort of alberto, and been happy with it. I've never noticed or tried the wraps inside the left loop (pic/step 3 above). Just put braid tag through loop same way it went through to start.

Back when I used fine, slick Gliss, I did have occasional slip, and I think this knot here would have prevented it.

I like the Alberto also. I have been having issues lately with them coming untied occasionally, but after some research, I believe I wasn't cinching them down hard enough. Everything I was finding suggest it takes a substantial amount of force to ensure they're properly secured, and I was just giving them a good pull and calling it good enough. The last couple I tied, I nearly cut my hands I cinched down so hard, so we'll see how well those hold.

The lefty kreh leader knot is easier to tie than all these other options and works well with light line. I would try that option.
