IF YOU COULD HAVE ONLY ONE SPINNING ROD & REEL

Featured Replies

If you could have only one spinning rod & reel setup

what would it be & why ?  brand, action, length, etc.

I really like that Loomis has specific length and actions for different techniques....I just picked up the 6'10 shakey head rod. And paired that up with a Pflueger Supreme spinning reel....

If I had to chose only one rod though it would be the 7'4 bronzeback series rod. It would be perfect for tubes, which is what I plan to buy it for, but also for lots of other soft plastics.

I may even pick up two of them one for tubes, and one for drop shotting...

The Pflueger Supreme has the best combination of bearings, smoothness, drag, low weight, and line pick up than any other spinning reel out there.

Pflueger President x6735, great reel, they just don'tever dissapoint me

Fenwick Rod if I had to pck one:HMG 7' Med

I have the very rod you speak of, and I love it... Skips tubes great too.

for me it would be the 2500 Stella on a 7'1 mag bass GLX.

If I could have only 1 rod and reel all together, this would be it.

Shimano stradic 2500/ 7 ft M power ST. Croix Premier

can use it for all of my spinning rod techiunques-senkos,flukes,tubes,drop shot, shakeys

x2...I love this rod.  I have it paired with a Pflueger President (great reel for the money)

I am in love with my Shimano Crucial 7'2" M.  Daiwa Tierra 2000.  It's a good combo around $200.  I"m sure there are better combo's out there, but I have no complaints with this one.

I am partial to my Loomis DSR820S GLX and Shimano Stella 1000FB.

The spinning tackle listed below is a "mid-end outfit", but to upgrade the quailty by 50% would probably cost about 100% more.

6-ft One-piece IM-6 Graphite Medium Heavy 10 to 17-lb Line 1/8 to 1 oz Lure - $115

12.5 Butt - Cork Handle Blank-thru-Seat Fuji Alum Oxide Guides - Screw-down Reel Seat

REEL

Shimano Symetre Front-Drag SY2500FI

Line: 6 -10 lb - Wgt: 9.5 oz - Max Drag: 15 lb Bearings: 4-B / 1-R Inches/Turn: 31 120yd/10# - $80

Fluidrive II - Alum Frame & Spool Dyna-Balance - S-Concept Engineering Infinite Anti-Reverse

Shimano Sustain 2500 and a St.Croix Avid 6'8'' M x-fast.  I fish mostly soft plastic now and this is about the easiest set up I have to use.

ROD: St Croix Legend Elite 68MXF

REEL: Daiwa Sol 2500

LINE: Invizx 8lb

Daiwa Steez SVF Complie-X Spinning Rod

Evergreen Opus-1 Spinning reel

suffix 30lb/8dia

Shimano Stella on a Loomis Shakey Head rod....those Stella's are soooooooooooooooo nice. At one tackle shop, the guy wouldnt let me touch it! He said, "Give me your credit card for collateral, and I'll let you try it out."   Well I had no credit card, so it ended their. ;)

Evergreen Opus-1 Spinning reel

I like how you think!!  ;)

Yeah, I havent been there since. But about 2 days later I went to bps and played with it........and the steez.......and the calais. ;D

the reel would be the new stradic and the rod would be a 6-9 medium Deep South rod-> it's new on the market. very sensitive and light

I'd do the megabass destroyer 68x with a bridged butt and a custom exist steez with sunline braid.

Only one?

Shimano Stella on a Loomis.

6'6 med-hvy avid

shimano symetre 2500

20 LB power pro.

I use this for skipping docks mostly which is probably 75% of my fishing early in the season. if I could have anything i would probably go with

6'6 med-hvy g-loomis GLX

shimano sustain 2500

20 LB power pro

problem is you can buy two of my setups for the cost of my "dream" setup.
