if anyone is going out and need a back seater let me know

I may on Thursday but I'll be prefishing for a tournament that I'm fishing at La Cygne Saturday so that's where I'll be Thursday. They aren't generating and I guess they may not be for up to a year??  :Idontknow:  So it isn't going to be a fun day I'm sure. All the guys I know that have been out there recently haven't even gotten a bite.

If Im not working which right now it looks like im not im in. Chris is really busy lately I think up the creek or the mouth is where they might be but a cold front is moving in and this crazy weather isn't helping any.

I haven't fished WYCO in several years, matter of fact it was when they put the wipers in, fished the tounry's on wed and won a couple, retired now and plan to get back out their, need to freshen up the boat and get the motor tuned up. Does anyone know if Scott stills runs the tourny.

Sent you a PM

For those that are interested the Wednesday nighters will start the 17th, at least according the the sheet that was passed out the final tournament last year. I plan on being out there so come out and have a good time :)

Fished for a couple of hours after work.  Caught two small ones.  One on a double-bladed buzzbait and the other on a shakeyhead.  Water temps up to 54-55, which I thought would really move the fish up.  Nothing on a jerkbait or rattle trap and not a lot of activity up shallow.

I may be out there today as long as I'm not working until noon and the rain isn't too heavy. If anyone else feels like being miserable out there with me just let me know.

Sizzle and I fished Wyco yesterday for too long in the cold, cold rain. It was still pretty good with most of our fish being in 8' of water or less on either a jerkbait or a jig. Only one for sure keeper that I measured, 16 3/4". Had 7 or 8 smallies and one really nice white bass too, 78 pointer did most of the damage.

I'll pipe in with everyones favorite advice...... Let the fish tell you what they want. ROFL

Seriously, Jerkbaits have been a solid lure lately and I have had success with smaller spinnerbaits. Few jig fish here and there.

Jerkbaits and jigs are usually pretty solid at Wyco in the spring. A lot of my fish Wednesday were on a 78 pointer in Pearl Threadfin shad color with about a 5 second pause. The jig fish were quick bites, tap tap and gone. Had to be really quick on the trigger to stick them. Funny thing was that the ones I got had the bait good like they must just be sucking it in and blowing it right back out. Never had much luck with a spinnerbait at Wyco until later spring or fall and that's usually only under perfect conditions. If you just want to catch some fish toss a jerkbait or a #5 shad rap and stick with them. What really has been surprising me this "spring" is how shallow the fish are despite the crap weather. Even at Melvern Friday they were in less than 6' of water, same with Wyco and Ft Scott.

Hey.... Been following this forum for a while since I got my boat this year. I've been looking for some good spots or lures to use for the bass! Anyone got any helpful tips?

:welcome:

Listen to Blue.  I will say that the few bass I've caught at Wyandotte so far this spring have come on shakeyhead worms.  If you throw one of those long enough, I can almost guarantee you'll catch something.  Let me know what your boat looks like and I'll say hello if I see you out there.

Yeah that's what I've been hearing. I'll def have to try them. Buddy was using a spinner and I was tossing a top prop and a rubber worm and no bites. But cool, it's a white and blue 07 nitro. Pretty new to the boating so if you see one taking forever on the loading ramp it's most likely me lol

Jon and I fished the first Wednesday nighter tonight. Only 5 boats showed up with the bad weather in the forecast but we barely got sprinkled on it was really a pretty nice evening. We caught a ton of fish on jigs and jerkbaits. It only ran from 6 to 8:30 so we tried to cover water slowly as fast as we could. Water was 49.8-49 everywhere we fished. We caught 3 keepers, all on jerkbaits, and I lost another for sure keeper right at the boat on a jerkbait that would have won it for us. I had  a keeper walleye on a jerkbait too that I thought was a nice smallmouth. We ended up with 5.17 pounds and second place. The guys that won it only had 1 fish but it was a beautiful 6.12 pound largemouth.

These tournaments are a lot of fun if any of you guys are interested in fishing them.

$30 per team. It pays out for every 3 or 4 teams I think, which sucked for us because there was only enough boats to pay first place last night. There's a classic/fish off at the end of the year also if you qualify through apperances or points that's going to be somewhere else for a full day tournament.

I used to fish those Wednesday night tournaments a few years ago and they are a lot of fun. Kids got a little older and sports kind of put a damper on my Wednesday's, but I'm hoping to get out there for a couple of them this year. My brother in law sent me a picture of that 6.12 and it was a beauty. Hope to see some of you guys out there.

kanasbassfisher08 and I went and fished the Wednesday nighter tonight, fishing is about all we did. Maybe put 15 in the boat all night, none we really even needed to measure. 10 or 11 boats and 1 2.38lb fish was the only one weighed in. Cold front, clear water, and a full moon just had things locked down.
