Hey guys how'd it go yesterday?

Ended up at C**p lake instead of Pondo........not very good again.  I hit one bass on the head and he was mad enough to take the lure.  That was it.  Discussed how bad it was with others there on Saturday and I hear a lot of the same......just a bad year!

It wwill probably get hot when they close it.  >:)

Central Illinois here. Pana, about 45 miles south of Decatur. Shelbyville is about 20 minutes away. In about a month I'll be thinking about muskie below the dam. That's how I finish up every fishing season.

A get-together would be great.

Cheers,

GK

Hello all, I am from Herrin, IL. I was born and raised in Champaign. Fish several lakes in southern IL and noticed one other post from "Daniel My Brother" that he fishes Cedar Lake. That is also one of the lakes I like to fish. I fished Shelbyville, Clinton and Sangchris alot when I was living in Champaign. Sangchris was my favorite but have not been there in years. There are many lakes within 30 minutes of my house now and sometimes hard to decide which on to go fish. I know that is a good problem to have.

Anyone fish Deep Quarry Lake in Bartlett? I got two GREAT bass Monday night. Waters high and the fish are killin' chatters and spinners.

Hey Swilly -

As I sent you in my PM, I have fished there, but not for largies. I thought bass lake was the place to go for them. Have you fished there?

I hit Shelbyville the first weekend in May this year. Caught 5 different species of fish - but no bass and no muskie (target species).

They were;

white bass

Gizzard shad

Alligator gar (which I thought was a muskie at first - dang it!)

bluegill

walleye

hooked in to 2 muskie, thought they were snags until they started taking line and eventually bit me off! Wish I could have eat least seen them...

Another central illinois member here. Hang my hat in Washington, about 10 minutes from Peoria.

me too, I live down the street from Central grade school on Bobolink

Also I think the lack of Illinois members on this section is the group of states we are lumped in with. We would all consider ourselves central US and associate with that group of states. Perhaps I will mention to Glen one of these days.

Not sure if you will get this in time for your trip , but my buddy said he was catching all his fish on 4" tubes . Along the weedlines

Thanks Tom, did not see this but we caught 29 on Saturday a bunch of shorties but about 6 keepers, crankbaits seemed to be the ticket. Manns -1. Sunday fished a half of day caught only 4 but all were keepers. Spinnersbaits seemed the ticket. I could not buy a bite on plastics. Tried T-rigged Brush Hogs and Senkos. Still had a great time.

I agree.  Illinois doesn't seem to "belong" in the Northeast category.  (No offense to those folks intended).

Depending on people's location maybe when it gets cold we could do a meet and greet in St Louis at BPS in St Charles? There is also a very new Cabela's quite close to the BPS.

I saw several central IL. Perhaps we could meet part way and carpool some. Perhaps Daniel my B and Cart& could even make the trek?

If more northern interest then we could meet at Bolingbrook in Chicago.

Just food for thought

Funny thing,

It turns out that boostnut lives 5 houses up the street from me!

It is either a small word or BassResource.com has gobbled everyone up(?)

Going to look each other up soon when one of us is out in the yard.

And yep Tom H you are on my way down. I figured we could carpool ans split gas or something. St Charles on the north side of STL MO has a nice BPS and not long ago opened a Cabela's not far down the street ( I believe). I've never been in a Cabelas and wouldn't mind at least taking a look in one.

Cabela's is not exactly right down the street from BPS. But, it's not far away. ABout a ten minute drive

My old car "knew" the way. My new car hasn't learned it, yet.

I have the same problem.  I live in Carbondale, and there are so many good lakes around.  Little Grassy and Cedar are a few of my favorites, since I have a 9.9.  It's always a good time when you don't have to worry about jet skis and other "big" boats since these lakes are a 10hp limit.
